Absolutely not unreasonable at all. Worth a shot right?

Flojobunny · 11/08/2013 21:12

Great I'm doing it, been trying to ignore it for an hour but its impossible.
Looked after the DCs and didnt look after myself.

Are your dc still in nappies? Sudocrem works well on sunburn.

Flojobunny · 11/08/2013 21:15

No unfortunately not. I only have sun cream or facial moisturiser to rub in if either of those help!

Kasterborous · 11/08/2013 21:17

You could try your facial moisturiser on a small area to see if it helps. If it does you could use more.

yetanotherworry · 11/08/2013 21:17

Moisturise! Your skin will be dehydrated and it may help with peeling. Don't forget to drink plenty and cover up for the next few days.

Greypuddle · 11/08/2013 21:19

Apparently egg white can take the heat out of it, smoothed over it. I don't think any kind of moisturiser can help. I've never tried it myself, but my mother told one of my pale-skinned friends to use it and it worked brilliantly.

Tee2072 · 11/08/2013 21:19

If you have it, ibuprophen is better, but paracetamol will do in a pinch.

BadgersRetreat · 11/08/2013 21:20

After sun is just moisturizer anyway I think. Paracetamol sounds worth a shot

Panadbois · 11/08/2013 21:23

why not run yourself a cool bath? That's what we'd do for burns burns!

pudcat · 11/08/2013 21:25

can you put some cold wet flannels on to take the heat out

DameFanny · 11/08/2013 21:27

Can you get some live yoghurt from anywhere? That's supposed to work well.

indyandlara · 11/08/2013 21:28

Have you got any tomatoes? Cut them in half and rub over the sunburn. Somehow it takes the heat out. Another helpful one is natural yoghurt. Just rub it in.

Flojobunny · 11/08/2013 21:29

Thanks, paracetamol taken, cold clothes applied, sun cream in the fridge to spray on after

OverAndAbove · 11/08/2013 21:59

If you have ibuprofen, you can take that as well; it works in stopping the burn.

valiumredhead · 11/08/2013 22:11

No cream until tomorrow treat it as a burn and you wouldn't put cream on a burn. Cool shower or bath.

SybilRamkin · 11/08/2013 22:11

Ooh, painful! YY to cold cloths, and moisture the f**k out of it, otherwise you'll be peeling all over the place in a few days...

RSVP · 11/08/2013 22:38

yoghurt is the best

frogspoon · 11/08/2013 23:04

Would agree with tee and overandabove that ibuprofen is probably better if you can get it as it will reduce inflammation of the burnt skin

Keep it as cool as possible (cool compresses) and moisturise frequently. Also drinking plenty of water helps to keep your body hydrate (you are more likely to get dehydrated when sunburnt) and will help your skin to heal.

Keep completely out of the sun until it's healed, sun cream is far less effective on already burnt skin and won't give it adequate protection.

Flojobunny · 12/08/2013 09:17

Thankyou, feeling a bit better this morning.

snooter · 12/08/2013 09:20

hydrocortisone cream will help - you can buy it from the chemist - unless of course any of the children have their eczema cream with them?

MrsMook · 12/08/2013 09:23

I've heard that the anti-oxidents in concentrated tomato products (eaten) help heal the damage quicker. Not tried it, was on the TV some time back.
