To worry about a 10 month old being held upside down by his ankles?

I have a very dear friend with a 10mo. He loves to hang the baby upside down by his ankles, sometimes jiggling him up and down. He does it while standing up, so baby is a foot or two off the ground.

Today he did it over a slate tiles outside for quite a long time while talking to friends. The child seems to enjoy it.

I've never said anything to the dad as I don't want to upset him or be judgey, but it is starting to make feel stressed when I see it.

AIBU to worry about the dad doing this?

Should I say something? I never comment on other people's parenting and usually think it's not my business, but this really does worry me.

If you think that's bad just search for baby swinging on the Internet and you'll have your heart in your mouth! Grin

Gosh! I must be very PFB. I wouldn't be happy with that at all.

Not a 10mo - I have a 7mo and tbh it isn't so much the dropping danger (which is ofcourse relevant)

it just isn't that comfy for him. He loves to dangle from my lap, for example, for a minute or two - but after that he gets concerned and wants to come back up.

I would be worried also about it bending his little ankles/legs the wrong way, or making the skin sore.

I think some parents don't have a great sense of what their child is comfortable with.

Hard to say anything though.

Also. My friend and her DH used to swing their toddler around by her hands/arms.

TWICE her shoulder came out of its socket and they had to go to hospital.

Apparently it isn't recommended as this is fairly common and it blooming hurts Sad

I wouldn't like it done to my own child but wouldn't say anything to someone doing it to their own child.

I'm not sure why I didn't add why I would stop someone doing it to my kids,

When I was little I was dropped on my face it smashed out several of my teeth broke my jaw fractured my skull.

So I'm a bit funny about stuff like that.
