AIBU to be suspicious at finding a false eyelash on our bedroom carpet?

Yes we do have teenage daughters, but they have both been away on holiday for a week and as far as i am aware no-one has been in their rooms. Besides they are 13&14 and not allowed to have them or wear them. I wouldnt dream of wearing them.

So AIBU?? Or is there a perfectly reasonable explanation?

Well it's got to have emerged from somewhere.

Either it was 'on' DH somehow (was he working in someone's home? Could it have attached itself to his shoes/clothing etc) or he disturbed where it was, I mean the possibilities are endless.

It could also be that Martin has been entertaining in your room....

MajesticWhine · 08/08/2013 19:17

If he changed straight after getting in from work, then it makes sense that it fell off his shirt as he took it off.

Yonionekanobe · 08/08/2013 19:45

Does he travel by public transport? Frankly I could see how a false eyelash could get stuck to the back of someone's shirt in rush hour on the tube!

QOD · 08/08/2013 19:53

But how could someone have got in there today if you were there?

bishboschone · 08/08/2013 19:54

Imperial . .. That is odd.!

Yonionekanobe · 08/08/2013 20:00

I think the worry is OP's DH having very close proximity to falsie wearer outside of the home and bringing it in, QOD.

BergholtStuttleyJohnson · 08/08/2013 20:17

Yabu to be suspicious of just a false eyelash and I don't think there was anything wrong with your DH's response either. The fact that you are suspicious makes me wonder if there's more too this. I think you were suspicious before you found the eyelash.

AnyFucker · 08/08/2013 20:22

Yep, that is clear

Are you ok, OP

Do you want to tell us why this has really bothered you ?

SoldAtAuction · 08/08/2013 21:11

OP, is this the first time this sort of thing has occurred?

Imabadmum · 08/08/2013 22:08

I actually do think iabu now, some time has passed, im a menopausal nutjob at the moment and my poor dh has been through the emotional ringer in the last couple of hours. It probably came in on his shoe. He dotes on me. I have apologised most sincerely to him.

Thank you for your comments and helping me to see reason.

Phew.

AnyFucker · 08/08/2013 22:11

eh ?

I thought he had given reason for you not to trust him ? That was a quick turn around. Has he explained in a thoroughly convincing fashion instead of making you out to unreasonable for asking a reasonable question ?

AnyFucker · 08/08/2013 22:11

to be

Viviennemary · 08/08/2013 22:17

Well I don't think you have anything to worry about just because you have found a false eyelash. The cat could have brought it in or it could have blown in the window. And most men wouldn't bring their girlfriends/mistresses and their false eyelashes back to the house. And least I would hope not.

Imabadmum · 08/08/2013 22:20

Anyfucker - no he hasn't explained, he cant, he has no idea where it came from. No i don't trust him particularly (which in itself is a massive problem in our relationship but one i just cant bear to really face just now) but i cant prove anything from the appearance of a false eyelash which, as so many have said could have come from almost anywhere. I am not going to divorce him on the basis of a false eyelash so either need to find better evidence of an affair, or let it go. In the interests of my own sanity i am choosing to let it go this time.

myroomisatip · 08/08/2013 22:22

Just how, how can a false eyelash enter a bedroom on a shoe? Mind boggling!

My daughter leaves them in her bedroom and in her bathroom.... they do not randomly appear in any other rooms... ever.

QuintessentiallyOhDear · 08/08/2013 22:24

Martin and his girlfriend has been in your bed.

AnyFucker · 08/08/2013 22:25

I didn't say you should divorce him, but neither should you force yourself to overlook the fact that you don't trust him (and he appears to make you unhappy) either

you were blaming yourself in your last happy-clappy Stepford Wife post...where the hell did that come from ?

myroomisatip · 08/08/2013 22:27

Blown in the window? seriously? Ok. I accept a cat could have brought it in. Do you have a cat?

I am sorry but this would also be a problem for me too.

Has he had opportunities to have another 'false eyelash wearing' woman in your bedroom?

MajesticWhine · 08/08/2013 22:32

Yes, I don't see why you had something to apologise sincerely for. You just asked him about it in a lighthearted way. Is it your fault that you don't trust him?

myroomisatip · 08/08/2013 22:34

I am not a young woman any more, however never in my life has a false eyelash (or any other random item) blown into any room of my house!

I cant say your DH is having an affair but in all honesty I cannot come up with a more reasonable explanation, if you discount your DC.

StraightJacket · 08/08/2013 22:37

Blown in the window is far fetched IMO, but you have to remember that false eyelashes have glue on. If then stood on for a while on a bus, or sat on on a train or whatever, it could stick to the shoe/clothing. That is a possibility.

I think if he was shagging some lady, don't you think they would of noticed an eyelash missing before they parted, and searched for it? The OP says it wasn't there on the morning, but was when she went in 20 minutes after her DH got home so it has to either be connected to Martin, or fallen from his clothes either way surely because he hasn't been in all day. And he isn't exactly going to carry the eyelash in and place it there, is he?

cumfy · 08/08/2013 23:48

Have you kept it ?

Does it have any signs of damage/dirt (use a magnifying glass) ?

If not it probably rather limits the likelihood it was innocently transported.

And why the bedroom ?

A rather unfortunate choice of destination methinks.
