DD (16) eating ice cream, she puts the spoon in her mouth sucks half of the ice cream off as she pulls the spoon out, then puts it back in and eats the rest.

I find it revolting and after asking several times, I did shout Blush

I have seen this a lot, there is a really nice ice cream parlour near where we stay on the coast and it is always full of people doing that!

As long as she doesn't put the spoon back into your mouth I wouldn't worry about it. I eat it like this as I hurts my teeth otherwise.
I like it nice and squishy too!

phantomnamechanger · 07/08/2013 20:09

I think its because the sensation of "drawing it off the spoon with your lips on the way out" is the same sort of sensation as eating it off a cone.

TheMagicKeyCanFuckOff · 07/08/2013 20:26

I eat this way because otherwise my teeth hurt a lot. I hate disgusting eating and I admit that this isn't exactly proper, but she's savouring it and I'm saving some pain, so I don't really see the problem.

livinginwonderland · 07/08/2013 20:31

I do it because it melts it a bit before I eat the rest. I thought it was normal?!

meganorks · 07/08/2013 20:34

I don't put less on the spoon as sharing a tub with DP usually, so passing back and forth. So like to load up. Plus end up with loads on spoon trying to dig out the little chocolate fish in Ben & Jerry's....

Lweji · 07/08/2013 20:36

how is it any more revolting that an ice lolly?

This

Bogeyface · 07/08/2013 22:20

To everyone who does it, why not put less on the spoon.

This!!

And we werent in public, we were at home at the table together talking. I have a real thing about disgusting eaters, I am very funny around food these days and someone chewing noisily or slurping can put me off my meal. I did ask her nicely but I got the "look" mentioned earlier!

Oh, I used to do this when I was younger and it drove my mum MAD! I don't do it any more...

Aniseeda · 07/08/2013 22:44

My mum does it with yoghurts (I agree with the person who suggested it's a sensory pleasure as she always seems to be really enjoying it!) and I have to make an excuse to avoid having to look eg. offer to make drinks and busy myself with the kettle with my back turned!
