4yo DD had shoulder length blonde ringlets - until this morning. She has never had her haircut and it has taken more than 4 years to get her hair this length.
Then, this morning, disaster! We went to a friends house and 2 little girls decided to play hairdressers in said friends bedroom, cue kids paper scissors and one cropped head! 
I can't believe how upset I am by this, it is a mess! understatement of the year Hairdresser can't do anything about the front, less than an inch long in most places, in some places more like an eighth of an inch. The back is better than the front, with the length in the centre untouched but the sides have all gone. (have been advised to keep the length for now and tie it into a very sad looking ponytail). I have been crying and think that I am being ridiculous, but everytime I look at her I think she looks like a shorn sheep. So AIBU or would you feel the same way?

Funnily enough just yesterday DD cut a huge wedge out of her fringe.
I must admit the first thing I did was laugh, take a photo and upload it onto facebook! A friend of mine asked me what I was going to do. I told her I was going to take as many embarrassing photos as possible and make them public when she turns 18.
Have now given up trying to make my profile public
And YANBU to be upset by the way, when it's such a drastic change

I would be devastated if that happened to DD. She's nearly 7 now and her hair is half way down her back, but it's curly at the ends so looks shorter. However, she was pretty much bald until she was two so her hair has taken forever to grow to the length it is.
She has had this explained to her and since she started school has been firmly instructed to keep scissors away from her hair and not to let friends near it with scissors - I've read too many threads like this here! 
- and she understands that only Grandma, the hairdresser and I are allowed to take scissors to her hair.
She looks sweet from the front - especially in the pink t-shirt one. I'd cut my losses and take the back off though
She has lovely thick hair for a three year old. That'll grow back nicely.

Aw she's lovely and, with such a sweet little face, I think a short style would suit her and at least look as if you meant it to be that way!
I am sure it won't take too long to grow back. My DD was more or less bald until she was two and then took ages to get any decent length but it did eventually thicken up and start growing faster - she's 13 now and has gorgeous long hair which I envy!
(Mine also played hairdressers once but, as I was standing right next to her at the time, I was able to grab the kitchen scissors off her before she did too much damage but, oh my goodness, can't they move fast when they have an evil plan in mind!)
