To be slightly nervous about my holiday?

Mosschops30 · 05/08/2013 23:10

Me and H split in March. I decided I would still take the dcs away as usual and booked holiday Grin

We go this week and I am wondering what the hell ive done.
Two boys, two suitcases, a trunki in a major airport!!!!!
They will be wild, I will have no control!!!!
What if I get ill?? Who will look after them?
What if I'm sat on my own every night watching the kids do the disco

OMFG!!!!!!

You'll be absolutely fine! I used to feel like this when I was a newly single mum, but I've been away on my own with 7 year old ds several times now, and I always find people to chat to :)

FreudiansSlipper · 06/08/2013 01:11

you will be fine take some good books and relax as much as you can

i have always been on my own and gone away with ds many times now he is older (5) it is a lot easier

YANBU but you should embrace it.

Have fun! (eek!) Grin

Amy106 · 06/08/2013 01:21

Of course you are nervous but I think you will all have a great time. The boys will love it and hopefully so will you.

trolleycoin · 06/08/2013 01:43

How old are the boys?

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/08/2013 01:55

DD has been on 18 flight in her 2.5 years. I don't know about holiday stuff while you're there but if you want tips about airports and flights, ask away. Also, post in the holiday/long haul section whatever it's called. I got some great advice when I was worrying about taking DD on my own.

Chottie · 06/08/2013 04:32

Relax and enjoy your holiday with your DCs. It will be a lovely break for you all.

Mosschops30 · 06/08/2013 09:26

Thank you all

I'm not worried about the flight, they both love it and its fairly short. It's all the other stuff!

They are 8 and 4, good boys but the usual boy mischievousness when they're together and I'm busy with stuff

You'll soon make friends if its a resort style holiday. Have a great time!

SarahBumBarer · 06/08/2013 11:11

YANBU but it will be brilliant and you will really feel good that YOU did this and that the three of you are making really fantastic memories together of your new family dynamic.

Have a fab time!

BrokenSunglasses · 06/08/2013 11:27

Are you going somewhere that has kids clubs and activities?

If so, you will find it easy to meet people to pass the time with. You will meet people while playing in the pool as well.

It's understandable that you're nervous, I would be too, but you have already gone a step further than many people would be brave enough to do by booking and planning the holiday. Your boys are lucky to have a gutsy Mum!

ENormaSnob · 06/08/2013 11:41

Where you off to mossy?

One of my best holidays was as a single mum. We had a ball.

Sorry to hear you and your dh have split. Hope you're ok x

Mosschops30 · 06/08/2013 13:30

Thank you so much Smile

Tbh I don't think the boys are that excited, they think dad is amazing because he can throw them around in the pool etc. this year I have to be super mum GrinGrin

We're off to lake Garda, we went last year and loved it so at least I will feel comfortable and know they're safe
