I wear rockabilly dresses for special occasions because I love the style but I can't do it everyday as I just don't have the time in the mornings and with 3 dc's and 1 of those is ASD it's doubly hard lol

FreudiansSlipper · 04/08/2013 22:24

i think it is a very LA look

just here it has taken off recently

i am not mad on tats but like the style of dress and have quite a few vintage clothes. but do not go for that look apart from heavily made up eyes

Sparrowlegs248 · 04/08/2013 22:56

I think its the 'pin up' girls that you used to get in the 40's, on airplanes and tattoos that have translated onto tattooed girls. I LOVE the look but think you have to go all or nothing with the tattoos. I am experimenting with the hair/make up/frocks.

I am waaaay to squeamish for tattoos but I often think women who go in for this look make it work beautifully. It's been around over here for, I would say, about 10 years but has been relatively mainstream for five or so.

Isn't this a bit old hat? Amy Winehouse rocked this look didn't she?

LRDYaDumayuShtoTiKrasiviy · 04/08/2013 23:48

Amy Winehouse didn't dress 50s fashion did she? I thought she was more of a mish-mash. I can't remember seeing her in anything that looked 40s or 50s to me.

I was assuming the OP means stuff like this lass? pinuppersuasion.com/

(This blog is dead useful if you want to reviews of online retailers, btw.)

thornrose · 04/08/2013 23:50

Amy Winehouse had the pin up tattoos and a beehive but never the 40s look IMO.

Lj8893 · 04/08/2013 23:55

I love that look and everyone always says how much it would suit me, but like several previous posters have said, it requires far too much effort!

I don't even bother blow drying my hair 99% of the time!

LessMissAbs · 05/08/2013 00:00

That has to be my nightmare idea of "style" more like cloning but I guess theres plenty of different elements to cover up most sins.
