Because I haven't got a clue Confused

We took baby (3.5 months) for a picnic at the beach near a local lake today. He slept for most of the time. When he woke up I took him down to the sand so he could feel it on his feet. He loved it and was wriggling his toes into it like mad. I noticed some people nearby watching him which I can understand as he is completely gorgeous Wink.

Then I took him to the water's edge so he could feel it lapping against his feet. Again he was very happy and started shouting at the water in excitement. In total we spent about 5 minutes on the beach. It was about 3.30 and we were under the shade of trees the whole time.

When I turned round to take him back to where we were sitting the people who'd been watching were doing the whole head-shaking/tutting/catsbum thing. What did I do wrong?

Oh that will probably be it, sounds like you both had a lovely time, ignore the silly people!

WestieMamma · 02/08/2013 22:37

I don't know. Possibly, but not intentionally. I was genuinely only chatting to him in our own little bubble, but I do have AS and sometimes struggle with volume control.

They sound like bitches then. Ignore. Enjoy your lovely DS.

TheDetective · 02/08/2013 22:54

Did he have a hat on? I've seen people tutting at babies not wearing hats in the sun even when the child refuses to keep the damn thing on!.

Swallowing · 02/08/2013 22:58

Loud parenting?
Did your son's 'shouting' maybe sound like he was distressed?
Maybe they couldn't care less about you and were grumpy about something else?

Some people just love the bloody self rightousness of tutting.

Flojobunny · 02/08/2013 23:06

The baby yoga is shocking

LilacPeony · 02/08/2013 23:26

All I can think of is that they mistook him shouting in excitement at the water for him shouting in fear and were being judgey about you laughing at it. It seems like the most likely explanation.

Would swedes really do head-shaking/tutting/catsbum at someone talking to their dcs because they hardly ever talk to their dcs? That sounds odd.

WilsonFrickett · 02/08/2013 23:29

They'd do catsbum about something random and otherwise inexplicable, like having the wrong curtains up or not wearing a wetsuit or not knowing it was Lucia or something...

They could be sufferers of Bitchy Resting Face

MurderOfGoths · 02/08/2013 23:48

It could just be that they are the kind of nutters that think children should always be silent, met a few of those already.

WestieMamma · 02/08/2013 23:58

Shock I just watched that baby yoga clip. I'm completely lost for words and that doesn't happen often.
