how much would you expect to spend?

help me settle a minor row...

how much would you expect to spend on 2 days out with 2 children -

day 1 - entry to farm, lunch in cafe, coffees, ice creams etc, trip to gift shop and chippy tea on way home

day 2 - public transport costs in London, picnic for 3 adults and 2 children, ice creams etc, drinks, supermarket trip on way home for dinner for 4 adults 2 children including wine

just had a small row over what I've spent and I'm wondering if I'm being unreasonable?

Could easily amount to over £100

CrapBag · 02/08/2013 21:37

More than £100 I expect for all that.

ClaraOswald · 02/08/2013 21:37

£50 day 1
£70 day 2

PrettyKitty1986 · 02/08/2013 21:37

I have no idea what public transport costs in London.

For the farm day out though we could easily spend £100. But could probably do it for £50 if being careful.

Sparklingbrook · 02/08/2013 21:37

Easily more than £100. Possibly £150+.

youmeatsix · 02/08/2013 21:38

no change from £200, and i wouldnt bat an eyelid at that

gordyslovesheep · 02/08/2013 21:38

depends where you are - how far from London

easily £150

Doilooklikeatourist · 02/08/2013 21:40

Day 1 --£75
Day 2 --£80

ChippingInHopHopHop · 02/08/2013 21:40

I wouldn't expect to see much (if any) change from £200 tbh.

I mean, it could be done for less, obviously if you HAD to, but as you went to the gift shop etc I'm assuming you weren't trying to do it on a strict budget.

tomatoplantproject · 02/08/2013 21:40

Around £150. It all adds up doesn't it?

Yorkieaddict · 02/08/2013 21:42

I'd guess around £150?

SoYo · 02/08/2013 21:42

I totted it up in my head as £180 if being fairly frugal on it in terms of drinks, lunch etc. Easily over £200 if not trying to save. How much did you spend?

wonderingsoul · 02/08/2013 21:42

200 roughly.

Farms and trains are expensive.

joanofarchitrave · 02/08/2013 21:43

About £200?

Which I have to say I would be a bit Shock if dh spent for 2 days out.

If you're going to a farm, then that's a treat - seriously, lunch out, AND an icecream, AND the gift shop? Could you not take a bottle of water, sandwiches, thermos flask of coffee and give them a choice of ice cream or gift shop tat?

Ignore me if you are a millionaire.

YoniRanger · 02/08/2013 21:43

£150 easy, anything under £250 is not utterly unreasonable

UhhOhhh · 02/08/2013 21:45

Grin thank you mumsnet jury I have been vindicated!

DP was, aherm, surprised I'de spent £100.

escape · 02/08/2013 21:46

200 , yes - although I have 3 kids - so , lunch at farm cafe would surely be a fiver plus per head - chippy tea would be 20-25 - so 50 quid on food alone on day one..

wonderingsoul · 02/08/2013 21:48

Can be done cheaper..a lot cheaper.. but from what the option put.. its what I expect it come to.

Were going to a zoo tomorrow whichbis costing me 23 but if I had to pay for travel it'd be near 50 . Thankfully my mum is taking us with a picnic.

It can all add up.

Hulababy · 02/08/2013 21:48

Def over £100, and probably a fair bit more too.

I can never be faffed with making, and then having to carry around, packed lunches for days out, so we always eat in a cafe. I never do the gift shop though.

Also depends on what kind of dinner you were making and the wine chosen.

CheeseFondueRocks · 02/08/2013 21:49

I think you've been very frugal then. I would have guessed just short of £200 as well.

wonderingsoul · 02/08/2013 21:49

That is pretty good going.... though I'm guessing you live in the London area? So making travel cheaper then ifbyou where going into London?

wonderingsoul · 02/08/2013 21:51

Blast two post was done before I read how much.

I don't think you could have done cheaper lol

Rowanred · 02/08/2013 21:52

About £200ish

heidihole · 02/08/2013 21:52

Gosh I'm impressed at all that including dinner on second night for only £100!!!

UhhOhhh · 02/08/2013 21:55

yes sorry I live in London and was traveling to another part of London, so 1 overground, 1 tube and 1 dlr, but on oyster card so not too bad. Dinner was spag bol so nothing extravigant!
