To not take back this dress

I sold a dress to a friend of mine, not a good friend but someone I know through others. I sold it to her over a week ago and dropped it round to her about 4 days after she paid for it due to her not giving me her address despite asking when i could take it round several times.

She's contacted me today to say she's tried it on and it doesn't fit. I don't have the money to give back to her and I can't return it to where I originally got it from (ebay). She's laid a massive guilt trip on me saying "I guess I've learnt my lesson not to buy off people".

I'd have been happy to take it back off her if she'd tried it on a day or so after I'd dropped it over but a week later the money is long gone. I'm on maternity leave and don't have a spare £25 lying around.

Am I being unreasonable not to refund her?

And no I'm not the kind of person who would ever have the cheek to do that. But I have seen people fall out badly over this kind of thing even when they are supposed to be adults. Which is why I said I'd refund, because if there is any way of some how getting it together for a quiet life it's worth it. It only takes one person who agrees with this friend and that's it.

But I can't refund her, I literally don't have the money like I said. If I give her the money on Monday when I get my child benefit through that'll be half of it gone and hardly anything left for food for the week. That's why I told her I'd refund her a couple of days later when I still had her money.

Don't worry about it. You gave her enough time. Just ignore. She can sell it herself if she is that desperate, or lose some weight.

ynbu.. i wouldnt be surrpised if shes worn it out and is now pulling a funny.

i had something liek this.. a friend brought my sons ds of him for her son birthday that was 3 months away. i had told her it was amercian but still played english and american cartidges. as the games we gave her where both american and english brought ones. she was fine with this, she decided to give it to him the next day as an early present

come his birthday she brought a game for him, but it wouldnt play on it.. she wanted a refund ..

it was 3 months later.. her son had been playing on it for 3 months. i saw it as it wasnt my fault, she was told that it was american and at the time both english and american games played on it. i didnt have the money to rufund her.
though had it been a week after i sold it to her, i would have taken it back and found the money.

she threw a big tantrume that i had ruined her sons birthday.

i wish i had known about mumsnet at the time.. i would have let you lot sort it out if i bu in not refunding her.
