To cry because I can't open the tuna

13 weeks pregnant, ragingly hormonal and in the throes of an incredibly uncomfortable UTI.

Craving tuna and cucumber sandwiches like there's no tomorrow and I can't fucking open the tin because of the bastard tin opener and its incompetence.

Currently sat on the sofa in a fit of rage.

Reason no. 1 I can never get divorced is we would all starve.

Why are bastard cans and jars so hard to open?

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 01/08/2013 13:38

I came on tosay are you pregnant. If so, yanbu. Else yabu

I see you are :o

buildingmycorestrength · 01/08/2013 13:39

Got an electric tin opener from Argos. Best. Thing. Ever.

Holly94 · 01/08/2013 13:41

So it's not just me being incompetent unable to use a simple tin opener then?!

OP posts:
NoComet · 01/08/2013 13:43

Not just you, DD1(15) is way better at our electric can open than me and has stronger wrist for jars.

Emsmaman · 01/08/2013 13:43

I feel for you. Can you pop to the shops and buy one of the ones with a ring pull (or better still, a ready made sandwich).

Holly94 · 01/08/2013 13:44

How am I supposed to take care of a baby if I can't even open a tin of tuna?!

OP posts:
FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 01/08/2013 13:44

there. Better?

buildingmycorestrength · 01/08/2013 13:44

My wrists went. Possible RSI from too much MN and texting

Not pg related in my case but don't loads is women get carpal tunnel problems in pg?

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 01/08/2013 13:45

Babies have ring pulls anyway. No opener required.

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 01/08/2013 13:45

The baby won't eat tuna.

Just don't get a cat. Wink

PollyPlummer · 01/08/2013 13:46

Babies are easier than tins of tuna, and they don't smell of fish either. Its a win win situation. Don't worry you will be fine.

buildingmycorestrength · 01/08/2013 13:46

Babies require much less twisting, I find. Grin

Tho I did get tendonitis from picking up my son from his cot at a funny angle.

buildingmycorestrength · 01/08/2013 13:47

I also got a jar opener...a weird rubber thing for about 50p from Tesco...saves us all regularly.

Holly94 · 01/08/2013 13:47

Hecsy the cat is currently sat staring at me as I battle with the tin!

Emsmaman unfortunately no shops nearby and DP has the car for work :(

OP posts:
buildingmycorestrength · 01/08/2013 13:49

Do you have anything else you can eat? Some cheese? A few Pom Bears?

Nancy66 · 01/08/2013 13:50

I have banned myself from buying ring pull cans because of the rage I know they will cause me.

maybe i'm just particularly ham-fisted but they always just snap off for me.

OP try buying the pouch tuna

Holly94 · 01/08/2013 13:51

buildingmycorestrength I'm going to have coleslaw and monster munch instead. Only another 27 weeks of this instead...

OP posts:
Holly94 · 01/08/2013 13:51

Of this to go, that was supposed to read.

OP posts:
xylem8 · 01/08/2013 13:54

YABU and feeble! Get a grip (or another tin or tuna!), woman!

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 01/08/2013 13:56

Poor bugger.

You AND the cat Grin

Get your partner to grab some easy open tuna and maybe a new can opener on his way homefrom work.

buildingmycorestrength · 01/08/2013 13:58

Xylem...come on, pregnant AND hungry! Bad combination. I used to be completely overwhelmed by hunger and cravings when pregnant. I'd get total tunnel vision til I ate.

Holly94 · 01/08/2013 13:59

I've done it!!! Yes!

OP posts:
buildingmycorestrength · 01/08/2013 14:00

Get that bad boy down you. Don't offer any to the cheeky cat. AND have coleslaw.

EeyoreIsh · 01/08/2013 14:05

Well done! see, you'll be fine with a baby after all Grin
