To tell my neighbour not to let her 13 year old drive?

We live on a close. My neighbour regularly lets her 13 year old son drive their cars. Guests do the same. One of the cars is a massive overfinch! I've told her before I think it is very dangerous & if he gets caught he could be prosecuted but she acts like she has no control over it. Surely you can just not give him the keys! It is not always quiet & there are lots of kids around. I want to report it but if she finds out its me it will cause a lot of troubleHmm

Well, I'm stroppy - but I would be round there speaking to parents and telling them that the very next time I saw their 13 yo driving a car I would be out like a shot to take a photo and that I would then be phoning the police. Ask them if they would like him to have a criminal record at 13...

This is pathetic (of them). What if he runs a child over?

Call the police. It's bloody stupid. Even if the worst the child does is bend someone's car door, or something, it won't be covered by insurance.

It happened again today. I called 101 they said they'd send a patrol round and didn't. He did it again & I called 999 as advised as they said they needed to catch him doing it. Once again they didnt turn up. Hmm

I thought the OP said it wasn't a private road?

no, I am not her/him.

the child will probably kill itself with a car sooner or later, but perhaps some efforts should be made to prevent this, and to prevent him taking anyone else with him. Sadly the parent doesn't seem too bothered.

notnagging Can you actually ring or go round to your local station and speak to someone higher up?

They should really take this seriously.

notnagging I would be ringing the police again, explaining that you've phoned both 101 and 999 about this and informing them that the next time it happens you will phone both them and the media. Tell them you will happily be giving interviews about the fact that the police are so disinterested about a potentially dangerous situation.

I would also be telling them that you will be recording your phone calls to them in future to use as evidence in a case for police negligence if and when a child is run down by this teenager.
