As in this one: Biscuit

I don't think it means "you jammy dodger" from the context I've seen it. More like "whatever", or similar.

Sorry, I'm relatively new to MN and I realise it's probably clear to everyone else.

It stems from the whole Gordon Brown biscuit thing and means something like 'your post is so worthless and pointless it doesn't warrant a response'

RatUpADrainpipe · 29/07/2013 10:15

Or.......you're really taking the biscuit (saying).

SmallSherryforMedicinal · 29/07/2013 10:16

Oh! I thought it meant "you're being a tit".

Which is of course defamatory to tits, being both lovely and useful things :)

mrsjay · 29/07/2013 10:17

it means jeez i cant even respond to that as it is so stupid/rude etc etc .

SirChenjin · 29/07/2013 10:19

I thought it was a nod to the GB thing...did I get that completely wrong? Blush

mrsjay · 29/07/2013 10:21

maybe we all have different definitions of the biscuit, TBH i think it is a bit meh and never use it

CockyFox · 29/07/2013 10:22

I never use it but I think it means 'I won't dignify that with an answer'.

GrimmaTheNome · 29/07/2013 10:23

yes, it arose in response to GBs inability to name his favourite biscuit. I think Jammie Dodgers were chosen simply because they can be rendered as a recognisable icon.

They can also be used to convey tittishness thusly:

GrimmaTheNome · 29/07/2013 10:23

Personally I prefer a Bear

BlackeyedSusan · 29/07/2013 10:24

gordon brown refused to answerr which was his favouite biscuit.

i ususlly see it used just as Mrsjay has described.

honeythewitch · 29/07/2013 10:26

I always thought it was someone mooning.

MadameDefarge · 29/07/2013 10:29

ah, happy days!

HeySoulSister · 29/07/2013 11:51

He answered in the end tho .... madame I believe it was you and me pushing for him to tell us, then some MNers got quite snotty that mumsnet would be seen as dull housewives with no intelligence

HeySoulSister · 29/07/2013 11:52

Next thing we knew it was all over the media!!

mignonette · 29/07/2013 11:53

It was a daft question though Grin

HeySoulSister · 29/07/2013 11:56

It came about because we were asking Justine if they had got the posh biscuits or the rich tea out in his honour... It wasn't a random question, just a follow on from a convo with mnhq whilst waiting for him to arrive...

MadameDefarge · 29/07/2013 12:39

yup twas us...and it quickly became a metaphor for politicians ducking tricky questions...and i got some biccies from downing street out of it!

BoredHorse · 29/07/2013 15:46

This has always bothered me, I get its a biscuit but what is the black bit? Is it meant to be where someone has bitten it?

MoominsYonisAreScary · 29/07/2013 16:22

What black bit? Isn't it just red jam

GrimmaTheNome · 29/07/2013 16:43

I don't see any black bit. There's some shading round the bottom edge which gives it a bit of thickness.

TheMagicToyshop · 29/07/2013 16:45

I think Bored may be on the iPhone app where many of the icons look wrong. The biscuit is dark brown with a black square at the bottom - no idea what it's meant to be!

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 29/07/2013 16:49

I thought it meant someone was being stupid/childish and needs to sit in the corner with a gobful of biscuit to stop them flapping their gums and pointlessly spouting crap.
