AIBU to always give in to babysitting?

I am god-mummy to my best friends ds (2) She is a very young mum and missed out on a lot of 'teenage' things due to her circumstances and in my opinion is making up for them now. Dad is not in the picture.
She asks me to babysit 3/4 times a week, mainly evenings till the next morning, so she can go out until 3/4am partying. most the time she is home to put ds to sleep before she goes, and is always home When he wakes up.
My dp gets very frustrated and says she is using me for babysitting so she can party. I worry if I don't watch him, she might get someone less responsible, or who he doesn't know to watch him. AIBU to not listen to dp and always say yes????

Are you happy with the arrangement? You are missing time with your family to be looking after him.

I was a young mum and never would have had the expectation of once a month babysitter never mind 3/4 times a week.

I see where you are coming from re other sitters though and for that I'd say YAB slightly U.

Cut it down a bit and see how it goes.

I don't mind, I love him and spending time with him but its getting a bit much with my own responsibilities in my own life. She lives round the corner and doesn't mind if he sleeps here or there but I rather him be in his own bed at home where he sleeps the best.

Thanks for advice BlueCarrot - I always was happy to help but it is starting to feel like she expects it from me which, I guess, is what my hubby isn't happy about.

I think you do need to put your foot down and limit it to once a week at the absolute max.

Would it not be easier if you minded your friend's dd at your house, so that your dp isn't feeling abandoned?

btw, how on earth can she afford to go clubbing three times a week?

Mumblechum1 - this raises my other issue with the situation. I'm not one to judge anyones parenting and I love my friend to pieces, but I wish half the money she spent on going out, going out for lunch, clothes...etc was spent on/put away for bubba.
I think limiting my 'service' to once a week is my only option before I turn into a live-in nanny! Thank you.

That is far too much, far too many times away from your family, and, like you say, far too much money out of her budget to be going out that often.
