To be panicking?

Not strictly an AIBU but posting for traffic because I'm worried so please forgive me Smile

This morning I left DS 7mo on my bed while I literally grabbed a top from the landing. I know it was stupid but he was right in the middle of the bed and I was going all of about 2 metres. I heard him cry a tiny bit and thought it was because he couldn't see me, turned round and he was lying on the floor by the bed laughing at me! Our bed is really low, the frame stands on the floor, so he haddnt fallen any height at all really.

I picked him up and cuddled him and he was absolutely fine, no crying and all smiles I felt awful and I rang my mum, she came and agreed apart from a scratch on his head he was fine.

He has been fine all day, his usual self laughing and playing. Eating fine, absolutely nothing wrong. Then just before bath time I noticed he has a tiny little bloodshot bit in the corner of his left eye. I am now panicking that he done it this morning and I didn't notice- it really is a tiny patch- and that it could be a clot or something!

I know I am probably over thinking it because I feel so guilty but I'm so worried! So I suppose the AIBU is WIBU to ring the put of hours doctor and ask for their opinion?

I'm not sure hopefully someone will advise soon, I'd be tempted to nip him up to a and e for a check up but I am a worrier by my nature

HoneyDragon · 26/07/2013 19:05

You will be very, very hard pressed to find a parent this hasn't happened to. Thankfully it usually only happens the once with each subsequent child

ThePowerof3 · 26/07/2013 19:06

It sounds like something has aggravated his eye, maybe dust? If he had a blood clot you'd know by now and it wouldn't be something you could see, don't panic x

HoneyDragon · 26/07/2013 19:06

You will not be laughed at either if you call out of hours for advice.

Justforlaughs · 26/07/2013 19:13

I'd love to say that I wouldn't be wasting the doctors time etc, but truth is, if I was even I tiny bit worried that the fall had caused a bloodshot eye I would. If it puts your mind at rest ring the out of hours service, they really won't mind at all. I'm sure he's ok, btw.

ThePowerof3 · 26/07/2013 19:17

It can't hurt to put your mind at rest

Mabelface · 26/07/2013 19:19

He's probably rubbed something in his eye. However, it would be worth speaking to a health professional to put your mind at rest.

SoleSource · 26/07/2013 19:26

Seek medical advice.

Fraggle3112 · 26/07/2013 19:28

Thanks everyone. I have rang out of hours and just waiting on their call back. I'm sure I'm panicking but I'd rather ring and them think I'm daft than not ring and then there be something to worry about. Thank you all for your quick responses

HoneyDragon is right. I have three DC and each and every one of them decided to have a tumble in my very slack care.

The best most spectacular one was my DD. She had just started crawling and I didn't realise how fast she was. I had left her in the living room and gone in to the kitchen. The ironing board was propped up in the hallway between them. She made it to the ironing board, must have moved it a little and it fell on to her.

We did rush her to MIU, our nearest available help and they checked her over. They said she was fine and gave us the 'head bang' advice. It made me laugh, it said 'If the patient is unable to walk and talk properly return them to the hospital'. I told them I may as well leave her there for a few years then. Grin

Hope all is well.

Fraggle3112 · 26/07/2013 19:46

MammaTJ that's made me feel better! The nurse rang back and she was lovely! She said there's no need to worry but told me the things to look out for just incase and said to ring again if I'm at all worried. Needless to say he will never be left on the bed even for a second ever again! Smile

Glad all is ok. Happens to us all. DS1 did this and I cried lots. He was fine.

ThePowerof3 · 26/07/2013 21:13

When the HV tells people not to do it do they not listen, myself included!

AnnabelleLee · 26/07/2013 21:20

Every baby does this or similar. Any parent that tells you otherwise has their pants on fire.

CatsRule · 26/07/2013 21:27

My 16 month old ds menace makes it his mission to dive from beds/couches/arms....

He is fine. Like othera have said, most parents have blinked for a millisecond and the baby has fallen taken advantage
