My god, those royalists are a nasty bunch.

Just look at the answers from them on this thread.

It's certainly opened my eyes.

It's not that I don't (sort of) get the significance of the baby but its the threads about clothes and nannies and security and diet plans and the endless endless shite

Which are beginning to wear me thin...

Sorry if that massively offends anyone, royal lover or no.

Come on the republicans thread, we only get the occasional royalist coming on to call us terrorists and miserable fuckers.

Otherwise you are quite safe on there.

P.s I don't actually read any of those threads, the mere scrolling reality that they exist is enough, quite enough.

I've hidden at least 20 threads over the last few days.

I don't know how to 'hide' would it mean clicking on the thread? That would create a conundrum for me...

No you can hide from active convos.

Go into customise and change your settings

Report

Yes hide them! The fawning and endless wittering about them is nauseating

To be fair there aren't usually a lot of threads on royals on MN. So I don't expect it will last very long. Like the threads on the hot weather. Soon be gone!

No, just go to Customise, scroll down to "Other Options" and make sure that "Put 'hide' link on Active Conversations?" is set to "Yes", then click on "SAVE". Then when you see threads in Active Conversations there will also be a little "Hide" link to the right of each one -- click on that and the thread will be hidden from your view.

Thanks I'll pop into settings

It will be a massive relief if it all ends soon, so much fuss for really a very normal event, being a child being born.

Soon there will be First Official Portrait, then Christening, then First Press Photo Session, and then Prince George's First Christmas.

The republicans are rather lovely.

4 'anti' royal threads on the 'most recent' page on my last refresh.

No 'pro' threads.

Just sayin'

I haven't said anything about being more/less annoyed by 'pro' or 'anti' I find it all annoying.

Didn't say you had... And I agree with you.

Was just talking relative volumes.

That's my point Kim

I think this 'adoration' is being somewhat overstated.

Very few threads being started worshipping the Royals.

To be fair, its not just on here, there are plenty of awful poncy facebook 'shares' and status' about the royals. It just reminds me that they exist and I'm bored of it.

Funny isn't it... I've had about 5 friends comment on FB when the sex was announced and another 4 comment one the name and I think I have about 500 FB friends.... About a 1% run rate.

The media fair enough. They've gone crazy. But come on, that's the media FFS! It's what they do. But no one I know in RL 'adores' the Royal Family.

And the 'criticise the baby' thread wasn't exactly about him being Royal, was it? Some people took exception to a 'joke' about a baby.
