Annoying eBay buyer

So, I've spent all afternoon stuck in waiting for a courier to collect an item when I wanted to go shopping for my holiday. Why? DH has sold his golf trolley on eBay. It was listed as collection only. However, he agreed to a courier pick up provided buyer paid (we still had to package the bloody awkward thing). What he didn't tell me until this morning was, that the pick up could be any time after 12. And that's right, I'm still waiting! Collection means just that, a collection at a specified time not waiting in half the day for a courier. Hmm

I can see why you're annoyed but shouldn't you be angry with your DH not the buyer?

Presumably, they asked if it would be OK to use the courier before the auction ended? Your DH should have said no if it was going to be a problem.

Oh I am angry with DH as well, don't you worry. But if you can't collect don't bid. I think DH has learnt his lesson after the boring afternoon.

Seems a bit harsh on the buyer - I bought an item and arranged a courier because it was easier (but did ask the seller first).

I think it is your DH here, not the buyer.

I agree with you if the buyer bid just assuming a courier would be OK. But not if they did ask first.

englishteacher78 · 24/07/2013 17:50

I perhaps should have made clear that they asked this after the auction closed. So I think it is unreasonable, although not as unreasonable as DH, I didn't make it clear in my first post how annoyed I am with him for just agreeing without discussion.

I don't really get why it's his auction & item he is selling - but it's you waiting in for his buyer?? I think he has mugged you off there Wink

He has a gym class, I went this morning so offered to cancel. He really did think the guy would come at 12, enabling us to go to Go Outdoors, do the shopping, then home before gym. Still no sign of the courier - although the why can't they give you smaller time windows is a whole different thread!

Ah, OK then, yes - you are right - they should not have bid on a 'collection only' item if they could not collect. I would have asked the seller first.

It sounds like your DH really shouldn't have agreed the courier if he couldn't wait in for them himself!

Courier is now top of my list - still no sign!
