Briefly, when I got into work today, in a big office with lots of offices round the UK, people were working at spare desks from other offices on the desks next to and opposite mine. My chair, plugs, key board and other essentials had been taken! They then proceeded to have a loud unnecessary conversation across me meaning that the literally piles of work I need to do was impossible to concentrate on even with head phones. I had to move to another spare desk in the office, having asked for all the bits they had taken so I could set up elsewhere.
aibu to complain to my manager and 'tell'on the visitors,or will I look petty. I found it mortifying tbh.

YANBU

you do not take apart someone else's desk for your own use unless your boss gave permission. If he did, he needs to explain but this would have affected your work today. It's bad etiquette to do this plus the IT department will not be happy as each desk is usually assigned their own telephone/PC for stock / update tracking
