I'm crap in the heat. Irritable, over-heated, dizzy, sometimes feel sick just because it's too hot etc. I'm finding it really hard to keep my cool (scuse the pun) with DS. He's just doing normal toddler 'cheeky' & sometimes trying behavior but the longer this heat lasts the more I dread the long days with him. I'm just so wound up by the end of the day.

I love him to bits and there are good moments but am I a shitty mum for finding it so hard in the summer? I feel awful for being so snappy, even though I try not to be...

(I'm an LP too so I don't get much help, though I have a DP I can talk to at the end of the day sometimes which helps, as does Wine and long baths in very cold water)!

I'm also going to buy lolly moulds good idea!

I hated not having a garden too and that was when we didn't even have a child. I did have to carry a very heavy dachshund up and down 3 flights of stairs every time we went out though!

Where's this thunderstorm I was promised today as well?!

ImperialBlether · 22/07/2013 14:04

OP, once you're a few episodes into The Killing, nothing on this earth will matter but the next episode!

TheOrchardKeeper · 22/07/2013 14:12

Im dying to watch the next episode tonight!

Have you seen the threads on here (in the TV section) about it? They really made watching it a fantastic experience. There was an incident board and everything!

I didn't dare look in case of spoilers. Am only on episode 7 of series 1! It's brilliantly done and keeps you on your feet.

Just walked DS back from nursery. How do people manage to look so happy and un
-flustered in this weather Hmm

AHHHHH

DS woke up quite a bit last night (happens a lot due to a health issue so it's not something I can 'train' him out of unfortunately) & DP left for work at 5 so was banging about & woke DS up. His shifts have just been changed so that he goes in early on a tues and last night was a trial run to see if he could not wake up the whole bloody street sneak out quietly enough not to wake us up. Safe to say he'll be staying at his on a Mon night.

Feel like crap Sad Hate moaning but I just feel so irritable. Plus it's not even 8 yet and it's fairly warm already.

Am 95% sure I'll have cried at least once by the end of the day. How pathetic... Hmm Brew

(will try and nap when he does but having a break sometimes feels better, even if i'm tired. Why does everything seem so much worse when you're tired? Brew )

I think your family are a bit mad having a picnic with no shade.

Would you consider having a pixie cut, but I imagine your hair is lovely so it would be a bit drastic!

I think toddlers are like puppies - they have too much energy!

Have a good day in the rain.

Oh, and you are not a crap mum.

Best wishes to you.

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/07/2013 07:45

Thank you.

I thought so too but apparently I was being precious Hmm

Even if he doesn't sleep well he still runs about like a loony, only it's worse because he runs into things & gets ratty...

I'm hoping it does rain here as it'll lower the temp a bit Smile

am meant to be meeting DP with DS at 3. Sounds weird but I just feel like being by myself tonight, even though I feel really low. I just want the evening/break to myself. Not sure if that's a bit selfish though as I'm going away at the weekend and won't see him til next week. Tomorrow night will be the last night I see him til then.

Supermarkets and librarys are your friend. A large proportion have aircon...

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/07/2013 08:38

I have been frequenting a local supermarket purely for that reason Grin

There must be a lot of shitty mums out there then ;) my dd 6 months does not cope in the heat at night. Days are fine. I've had 2 hours sleep last night as she cannot stay asleep in this heat, and I'm on my knees. I may have been heard last night whispering (so not to wake the toddler) SHUT UP AND STOP WHINING.

Not my finest moment.

valiumredhead · 23/07/2013 10:01

I can't near the great in the UK, too muggy by far! I was born abroad and worked in a hot country food years and was fine! I just feel sick with it here, it's bastard hot atm!

Wine Thanks

2.6 is a hard age! It gets easier. Don't be too hard on yourselfFlowers

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/07/2013 12:36

BuntyCollocks · 23/07/2013 12:39

Thank you!

My DS is the same age as yours. It is tough. I'm also finding he is at the height of his terrible twos ATM.

valiumredhead · 23/07/2013 12:44

My post should've been-bear the heatGrin

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/07/2013 12:44

glad it's not just me then. He's still easy going most^ of the time but the tantrums are worse when they do happen...and there's the whingeing Shock Grin
