It just so is! The self deprecation, the obfuscation, the silly humour, the sending themselves up, the grumpiness ...

Go, beat me - tells me there's a TV programme more British.

Dads Army & Fawlty Towers are best of british IMO

Martin Freeman is a vile creature.

I love BC and MF - I did not like the first few episodes of SHERLOCK, but it has grown on me - I am addicted now?

MF is not vile he's a lovely teddy bear!

Actually, I'm switching my vote, jamdonut is quite right, Dr Who is the clear winner.

The original Sherlock Holmes books aren't that humorous, though.

Let me see... Idea and many of the scripts by Steven Moffat (Scottish) and Mark Gatiss (English); arch-enemy is Andrew Scott (Northern Irish) and it's made by BBC Wales so I think definitely the most British.

Is One Man and His Dog still on these days? I remember Mike Mills of REM saying he couldn't believe his eyes when he turned on the TV in his British hotel room and it was on Grin

After years of me going on about how funny it is, Canadian DH finally sat down to watch Blackadder. He was unimpressed. Must be a British thing?
