FIRST WORLD PROBLEM ALERT

I hate packing for the summer holidays. Am right in the middle of it now. Still got a load of washing to hang out and another load to wash tomorrow (thank God for the hot weather). We leave the house Tuesday morning 9am, which is quite civilised and for that I am hugely grateful.

Two weeks in a hot country with a modest baggage allowance but staying in a place with a washing machine.

What do you pack per person?

Please share with me and make me a happy Mintyy Flowers.

we have 3 cases and a mix of stuff between them all

thegreylady · 21/07/2013 20:40

For a week: ME
7 tops
2 shorts/skirts
2 trousers
2 dresses
1 swimsuit
sandals and shoes
1 jacket
8 knickers 3 bras 2 socks
1 nightie
sun cream and usual toiletries for both of us

For a week: DH
8 shirts/tshirts
2 trousers
1 shorts
1 swim shorts
1 jumper
1 jacket
sandals and shoes
8 pants
8 socks
1 pj trousers

However we are pretty elderly so don't do much active stuff.
We go on Wednesday-hotel no washing machine etc.

Rushyswife · 21/07/2013 21:39

I wouldn't usually pack for DH, he is v good at it as he travels lots with work. However, he's away from tomorrow until about 7.15 Thurs and we leave 6am Fri. He could pack that eve, but I want him to pack the car (!) so I am trying to help him out a bit. My DS is only 17 months so I think he needs a hand too!

Wilma123 · 22/07/2013 00:12

I off for 6 weeks to ourvilla just taking enough
For 1 week will wash etc while I Am there

BlackeyedSusan · 22/07/2013 00:18

if you have moe than one suitcase, mix and match the contents. if one cse goes walkabout, everyone has at least something to wear.

I usually put a pair of pants some thin trousers and t shirt in my handluggage.

Bogeyface · 22/07/2013 01:16

No lists here!

I just wash everything then the day before grab 7 tops, pants, pairs of socks per person and 2 jumpers, pairs of jeans and pairs of shorts per person plus one smart outfit so trousers and shirt for the boys and a dress for the girls. Then I walk around the house looking in every cupboard and throw in whatever else I think we need!

One year we went without anyones coat as it was really hot here, but pissing it down where we were going :o

I suppose with 8 of us I should start lists!

softlysoftly · 22/07/2013 01:24

Argh we go tomorrow evening working all day tomorrow (from home luckily) and dd2 is currently currently refusing to go within 2 feet of her mattress.

I hate packing.

Dh will do his own but I would eat hot Coal before I let him pack ours. The 1 time I was stuck in hospital with dd2 he turned up with a teddy and a pink onsie. For me!

I'm 35 and a size 18, in a onsie all day. Fucker :)

Anyway "ipower" love that list.

RealAleandOpenFires · 22/07/2013 04:04

OP, can't you just buy cheap clothes while you're there?

feelingood · 22/07/2013 08:35

I do pack for everyone. It's practical as I have more time than anyone else to do it.

I write a list and DH is repressible for checking stuff off.

DS gets his own toys, though I have to moderate this a he will try to bring a full hot wheels track with him, forget a charger etc.

hmmm....some areas I have a bit control freakery still....hmmmmm

Im going away on Friday, just me and the kids:

Pack for 3 day self catering beach holiday DS(7) DD(18m) and I
Tidy and clean house
Write an essay
Get a shop in.
Passports for other holiday

BeckAndCall · 22/07/2013 08:45

OP you need to nip over to the AIBU 'is my DH a weirdo" thread - there is Masterful list making on there. Truly epic!

SanityClause · 22/07/2013 08:50

Like you, we always have a washing machine on holiday. I'm happy to chuck in a load in the morning, and a few at night, but I hate ironing.

So, anything that can be washed, take a few of, anything that needs ironing, take a lot of!

Sparkletastic · 22/07/2013 08:55

What I'm not packing is lots of toiletries - going somewhere scorchio so will buy big bottles of showergel, shampoo and conditioner when we get there for the 4 of us to use. Taking the brilliance that is Avon Skin So Soft original dry spray body oil for mosquito repellant. That stuff is life changing if the bitey buggers trouble you Grin
