To not make DH a coffee when I make myself a cup of tea?

I probably am.

Making a cup of tea = more or less instant. Boil kettle, bag in mug, add water, quick stir, teabag out, milk in, done.

DH will only drink proper coffee (in his own house anyway) so this is much more faffy - boil kettle, measure coffee into cafetiere, add water, twiddle thumbs for a few minutes, plunge plunger, pour into mug, add milk and sugar, quick stir, done. BUT added to this is the fact that the cafetiere is permanently dirty and only gets washed before then being used, so I also have to track it down, empty the grounds into the compost and rinse it out. And I CAN'T BE ARSED.

If he drank instant I'd make him instant. If he drank tea I'd make him tea. I just can't be bothered to go through the palaver of making proper coffee every time. AIBU?

PS I bought him a coffee maker for his last birthday, which he is very excited by, but we currently have no kitchen and therefore nowhere to put it.

Totally agree.

I drink black tea. Dead easy to make.
Dh drinks coffee with milk and sugar. I resent faffing about doing him drinks, and in your case op. no passive aggressive shite( though I have done that and it's fun) just instill rule. Clean cafetiere= coffee. Not clean no coffee, and you do not clean the sodding thing.

Agree with Earthworm - just say (calmly & kindly) that you won't make coffee unless the cafetiere is clean as it's making you grumpy to faff around cleaning it.

I have the same issue, added to which I actually think DP drinks rather more coffee than is good for him (because he's trying to compensate for not coming to bed at a sensible time). Luckily he also likes tea so I just make him tea, rather than getting grumpy and resentful about coffee pots.

Er, how about the coffee-drinker makes the big potful in advance? Not sure why people are suggesting the OP take responsibility for this.Hmm
