To think this is totally unfair

When we moved into our current house 7 years ago I was a (vaguely) glamorous twenty something.

Next door had two lads aged about 14.

Because we have low fences we would say hi and chat a little if we saw them in the garden. Both lads would usually blush like mad if I came over to talk to them.

7 years on I am now a sleep deprived frumpy mum of 2 (had ds 8 weeks ago,) Went out into the garden on Friday to hear a nice "hi" and see these two shirtless men who both looked like they had spent many an hour in the gym. As they asked about ds I found myself blushing.

I now realise that I am totally over the hill!

AIBU to think that this is very unfair and should not be allowed?

Life is indeed hard.

I feel your pain!

Icelollycraving · 21/07/2013 06:45

That is not on. Bugger!

HappyDoll · 21/07/2013 06:49

You'll get it back...remember this moment, it'll spur you on!

Cyclebump · 21/07/2013 06:54

Definitely unfair! Our next door neighbours' had sons in their early teens when I was 18ish and they too blushed when I talked to them. I was cool, I went to the pub. Now they're strapping lads in their 20s and I'm a frazzled and far heavier 30-year-old. Sigh...

I'm afraid this is life. Fast forward another 17 years and they will be older and not so hot. Your DS will be the young, fit one with the pecs :)

TroublesomeEx · 21/07/2013 07:57

Oh that's harsh! Grin

superbagpuss · 21/07/2013 08:01

samithesausage · 21/07/2013 08:25

I was told I was an old woman by my sons, 7 and 8. I'll book my zimmer frame now!
I feel your pain too!

I like the getting older bit, hated being wolf-whistled at when I was a teen & 20-something.

(Not that I am remotely pretty, but I grew up in a culture where it was acceptable to treat all women like that). I hate being centre of attention, anyway.

Fraggle3112 · 21/07/2013 09:03

My cousin goes to my old school, I left 10 years ago. He asked me in all seriousness if the school had any computers when I was there!! Bastard! I can't wait until he is 28 and I can remind him how 'old he is' haha

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 21/07/2013 09:53

So we are (mostly) agreed that all mumsnet terms should stay young and glamorous despite the passing of time???

Better get that portrait in the attic sorted. Grin
