To be very unhappy with Clarks?

I bought DD some sandals in the sale 5 days ago . TOday she wore them outside for the first time and within a 4 hour period the flower pattern on her sandals has rubbed off.
NOt happy at all and won't be spending my money there again. Can I return the shoes with the receipt and as for my money back? They have been worn once and I purchased them in the sale.

There's no harm in you asking, they are clearly faulty and with a receipt they should be able to give you a full refund. But also depends on what their sales refund policy is.

Hope they manage to sort it for you.

nancy75 · 20/07/2013 22:27

they are faulty, just take then back. it doesn't have anything to do with their sale refund policy,

CoolaSchmoola · 20/07/2013 22:27

I returned sale boots because they were faulty, no problems at all.

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 20/07/2013 22:27

IME Clark's will take things back for this kind of reason. I once took back a pair of boots because after a month the lining had worn in holes, and they also took back a week old/ worn pair of DS' shoes because they'd fitted him into the wrong size. I didn't have the receipt either time.

nancy75 · 20/07/2013 22:29

Shops that don't refund on sale goods are only allowed to not refund because you have changed your mind, if something has a fault it can be taken back whether full price or sale unless the fault has been pointed out at time of purchase and is the reason for the discount

Lj8893 · 20/07/2013 22:30

Meant to add, but seen its already been covered, that I would be very surprised if a store such as clarks didn't offer a full refund.

Lj8893 · 20/07/2013 22:32

Nancy, in this case the OP has her receipt but actually if they are without a receipt or out of the returns period, a store isn't obliged to give a full refund for a faulty item, but can offer an exchange/credit note instead.

With a receipt and within the returns period, yes they are obliged to give a full refund.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 20/07/2013 22:33

Clarks have always been very good if we've had a problem (only twice in 11years). Take your receipt and I'm sure they'll refund the money.

itsnothingoriginal · 20/07/2013 22:36

You can but try! I'm sure you'll be offered a refund or exchange as they are pretty much brand new.

However, they wouldn't give me a refund or exchange for DS' s school shoes when the sole wore through after less than a month of wear Hmm probably depends on who you speak to!

angelcake99 · 20/07/2013 22:38

It's good to hear that I should get my money back. Just hope I can find another pair of sandals now , thanks for your help everyone!

Itsnothingoriginal I have had a similar problem with my DS school shoes too . Think I am going to try Startrite this time and she if they are any better.

I always buy Startrite for school shoes now although the price of them does bring tears to my eyes Shock

One thing I have noticed is that in Clarks sales there are shoes I've never seen in their full price stock - wonder if some of these styles didn't quite meet their quality standards Hmm

nancy75 · 20/07/2013 23:00

Lj8893, you are correct about the receipt, however the returns period is completely irrelevant when returning a faulty item. Many shops only give you 7 days to return items that are reduced, that would not be considered a reasonable amount of time for anything to last. The refund policy that a shop displays is in addition to your statutory rights, not instead of them.

SevenReasonsToSmile · 20/07/2013 23:22

We won't use Clarks again after they fitted DS a pair of clown shoes. I love that Start rite are made in the UK, Clarks are made in Vietnam.

Hrrrm · 20/07/2013 23:24

I think my DD might have the same sandals, same thing has happened. I have been wondering about contacting Clarks, but threw the receipt away the day we got the sandals as stupidly didn't think we'd need it.
