I don't want to give too much info in case I out myself, but to cut to the chase, my friend (and a good friend) sent her DD to school after she had been sick all night and day (the day before) and still with diarrhea. She had reasons for it, but AIBU to think there is never a good enough reason to do this?

a bit of a cold - yes...

D&V NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..... 48 hour after last bout rule at our school....

ThreesyDoesIt · 20/07/2013 09:02

No there no good reason to send a child to school with sickness and diarrhea imo, just passing on germs willingly to all those other poor children.

Justforlaughs · 20/07/2013 09:07

So, should I apologise for making it clear that I wasn't happy about it?

if you feel strongly on principle that she was wrong, then no apology should be necessary.

If you feel that you went over the top with being unhappy, but you love your friend and do not want her to be too upset by your reaction... then maybe a little "Sorry I hurt your feelings" type apology.

Bang out of order. Her, i mean. This is how d and v spreads, through stupid people. I have a stomach condition that makes me very vulnerable to these things, I spend a great deal of every school year in a blind panic.

Justforlaughs · 20/07/2013 19:54

I've left a lot of details out but her decision made a huge difference to me, personally, so I may have over reacted. I wasn't rude but I made no bones about how I felt. Blush

No mention of the poor child then. Yes it was rubbish to potentially spread a bug, but that poor girl must have terrible. Sorry but that is awful parenting.

*felt

That's awful and there's no excuse. Recently a stomach bug went around our school, and within three days, half of the reception class were ill, plus children from other years. Can't believe the child was sent to school with diarrhoea.

Its like at the end of year assemblys the children get a certificate for attendance I always think they are the children of parents who can't get any child care for them when they go to work

MadeOfStarDust · 20/07/2013 20:22

ah.. but my girls BOTH got certificates for 100% attendance for the past 2 years... because they were not ill (touch wood I am not tempting fate...) they were not ill AT all - for 2 whole years...

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 20/07/2013 20:30

Makes me mad that people send their kids in with D&V. DS had three episodes in three months from nursery. I don't have childcare either, I have to take a day off work.
