How do you do it?!
I'm about a size 16 and wore a maxi dress yesterday and the pain from the top of my legs rubbing together was horrible! Really hurt!
I won't be wear a dress or skirt for the rest of summer I don't think.
And my legs leave a lot to be desired so that rules shorts out too.
Looks like I'm spending the entire summer in cropped trousers and strappy tops!

The sloggies are 95%cotton, 5%, so not too hot.
Tights in warm weather give me thrush, these don't.

Lanch- watsit cream works, but it's about £7 a tube

RunningBear78 · 18/07/2013 16:27

aaah thank you so much for this! I'm preggers, can only fit in dresses at the mo and this thigh chaffing is a new one on me! Feel like I'm walking like a cowboy, not v attractive.

Will dig out the body glide and hunt down some long knickers me thinks !

Thank you all Flowers

JerseySpud · 18/07/2013 16:27

i chopped a pair of leggings down to shorts and wear those

ohforfoxsake · 18/07/2013 16:39

I wore a pair of DHs trunks under my maxi dress yesterday. Worked a treat Grin

kali110 · 18/07/2013 17:36

Definetly talc lol im a 14 nearly 16 thanks to muscles genes in the family but im always wearing skirts or dresses. Couldnt give a fuck what anybody thinks!footless rights also good

trinity0097 · 18/07/2013 18:23

Cycling shorts under dresses or skirts for me, keeps me far cooler as I don't then get that skin on skin heat.

Seenitall · 18/07/2013 18:37

This is why I love MN - I thought I was the only one, after a long day yesterday on a school trip I was in real trouble, on the way home (whilst no one was walking behind) I adopted a rather fetching cowboy walk for some light relief lol

auldspinster · 18/07/2013 20:43

I was thinking of buying some primark mens trunks to test how well they worked on chub rub.

VivaLeBeaver · 18/07/2013 20:46

Evans comfort shorts in my experience are shit, they roll right up so the legs are right up and the chafe continues.

Do sloggis do this or are they better?

IsThatTrue · 18/07/2013 20:59

I have the primark control pants which go down to the knee and up to the boobs. They hold everything in and stop the horrible thigh chafe.

For already chaffed thighs aloe Vera gel works wonders.

MisForMumNotMaid · 18/07/2013 21:02

I used to use vaseline when I went running. Tiny amount. Stopped all problems.

oreocookiez · 18/07/2013 21:05

Oh you poor thing, I have the same problem and wear comfort shorts from Evans - easier to get hold of on line. Sudocrem is a nice relief in the evening x

JsOtherHalf · 18/07/2013 21:55

I use the lanacane anti chafing gel: www.amazon.co.uk/Lanacane-Anti-Chafing-Gel-30g/dp/B0015X8418/ref=pd_sim_sg_5

Undertone · 18/07/2013 22:21

Ahem. In a tight spot you can use any 'bedroom lubricant'. Durex Play not as good as one i tried one year called 'Millennium' which was in a terrifying cock-like black bottle but ooooo i was gliding along.

thegreylady · 18/07/2013 22:32

I am size 16/18 and dumpy but don't have that problem. I have a couple of mid calf length dresses from East that I am alternating as they are very light cotton and I just swear cotton n bra a and pants underneath. My legs are pretty chubby too.

ChoudeBruxelles · 18/07/2013 22:35

Roll on deodorant on your inner thighs.

Skinheadmermaid · 18/07/2013 23:40

I'm quite slim but the top of my thighs still rub together, it's my problem area i suppose!
I wear thin tights. It's actually cooler for me then bare legs as theres no sweat or chafing and my skirts are very, very short so i get a nice breeze!

NoComet · 19/07/2013 00:32

Sloggis stay put on me, I have 14s and 16s and both are fine.

They are very stretchy and go over my big bum.

One word of warning, they are quite long, you can't have a skirt more than just above your knee.

NoComet · 19/07/2013 00:36

I have resorted to keeping my lightest thin shorts on under my long floaty holiday dress.

Having done the cow boy walk along the sea front the night before.

marriedinwhiteagain · 19/07/2013 00:41

There was a thread a week or so ago about shoes that rubbed and lanacane cream was recommended to stop the rubbing. Could that do the trick. Vows not to eat for a week so I can stay in a 14 and not suffer this in the heat.

independentfriend · 19/07/2013 04:19

Cotton knickers +
Knee length cycling shorts

MrsHeinzDoofenschmirz · 19/07/2013 09:14

I wear the Sloggi long leg pants/knickers and they are lighter and more comfortable than normal undies, and they stop the chafing completely.

HatieKokpins · 19/07/2013 09:18

BodyGlide, it's what marathon runners use to stop chafing. You can use it on your feet to stop blisters from sandals too. Lanacane anti-chafing gel just isn't as good (and doesn't last as long).

persimmon · 19/07/2013 09:19

Sainsbo's do 'apple' and 'pear' control pants for about £7; the pear ones have long legs which work a treat to stop thigh chafe and they also stop jiggle pretty well without being hideously tight.

Weirdly, I have BIG thighs but rarely suffer from thigh chafing.

namechangeforaclue · 19/07/2013 10:15

Cream your thighs. Creates a barrier and type of cream works.
