DS2 is 3 and starting nursery. One of the MN threads invites those with DC of 2 or under to complete the questionnaire. I hated the toddler and baby stage, but here I am feeling a bit sad that I now have 2 children and not a baby and a little boy.....

Oh come on, he is a baby! Mine are 21 and 24 - THOSE aren't babies!

mynameisslimshady · 16/07/2013 23:11

While you are busy looking at what you don't have you are missing whats in front of you.

Watching and helping you children grow is a huge privilege, try and look forward to the next phase of their lives, its not sad, its happy, honestly.

Boomba · 16/07/2013 23:18

agree, agree! with both of these posters...he's still little...but particularly what slimshady says...

McNewPants2013 · 16/07/2013 23:26

DD is 4 and she is still my baby and will always be.

She starts school in september and i feel like i am losing my little friend :(

thebody · 16/07/2013 23:27

mine are 23,22,14,12... still my babies just don't tell them.

Doodledumdums · 16/07/2013 23:32

I understand OP! My DS got his first tooth yesterday, and i've spent today mourning his gummy smile!! I really do need to get a grip, my DS really is still a baby!

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 16/07/2013 23:37

My youngest starts school in September. I won't have one at home in the week anymore. Sad

She's so ready to go. I'm so not.

Dh keeps dropping hints that he'd like to try for another baby. Trouble is he wants a son and we'll probably get another girl! Feeling a bit broody now though. Confused

fabergeegg · 16/07/2013 23:38

Have another.

curlew · 16/07/2013 23:42

I remember asking my 90 year old mother what was the hardest bit of being a parent- she said she didn't know, she'd only been a parent for 67 years!

elQuintoConyo · 16/07/2013 23:44

I feel the same Sad
DS walked really early, then the teeth came, weaning and now he's on the cusp of speaking (19mo, yes I know that's still wee).
He's not cuddley anymore, too busy running around like a whirlwind or swinging off my hair.
Can't have another, so that's not an option. Baby snuggles with other LOs is the answer.

gingermop · 17/07/2013 00:41

totally understand, ds3 (youngest) starts ft school sept, my baby growing up.
my oldest dd1 is 14, she may b bigger than me now but always my baby :-)

MadameDefarge · 17/07/2013 00:41

My baby is 13, smelly, gangly and nearly as tall as me.

he will always be my baby. And my toddler, and my lovely five/six/seven year old etc.

i can see all those little people in him still.

WafflyVersatile · 17/07/2013 02:24

I'm 40 and still a big baby.

FunnysInLaJardin · 17/07/2013 22:21

tis all true and I do love the fact they are both growing into fab boys. Maybe it's my age. I will never have another baby and shudder at the thought, but I still feel a bit sad that the baby stage is behind me and I HATED the baby stage Grin

FunnysInLaJardin · 17/07/2013 22:23

I suppose I have had a 'baby' for 7 years now and now I haven't got an actual baby anymore. But yes at 42 I am still my 85yo mums 'baby'!

I'm feeling a bit like that, my DC5 is starting school in September and I thought "get my own life back", "get a new job" etc, etc, which I've done and I'd give anything to go back a year and be a sahm with a little at home still. Sad I've been through all this once, as I thought my DC4 was going to be the last and then we had a little surprise, it's not going to happen again though.
