To be disappointed with school report?

DD (Y3) got her school report home yesterday.
She moved from our amazing infant school to the good-ish juniors in Y3.
I was quite surprised to see that since her SATs at the end of the Infants she's slipped down two sub levels in one subject, stayed at the same level in two subjects and increased by 1 sub level in the other two...

She got 'B' for effort in everything out of a possible A*, A, B, C........

AIBU to be a bit worried?

I don't teach in the state sector so I might be wrong about this but I have heard that a KS1 level 3 is not the same as a KS2 level 3 and a KS2 level 5 isn't the same as a KS3 level 5 etc

Was the level a teacher assessed level or just the result of one test?
DS's school report the end of year test result, and of course your DC can always have a bad day ...

Some children regress OP, they can be ahead of their peers when younger then start lagging as they get older, even end up failing subjects. Maybe she's just not the academic type? And theres nothing wrong with that btw.

On paper dd has stayed the same in NC levels...

In essence has made huge progress, which I can see, as can her teachers

Why no increase in levels"

previous school lied and bumped up her levels... Knew she was leaving and wanted to look as if they had got her to required standard... Was comical, as she was so behind.

Current school assessed fairly and accurately.

I know she's made progress and that's all that matters.

Talk to school if you are worried, but I think ks1 inflated grades are very common.

ChubbyRose · 16/07/2013 19:57

Ah, I didn't realise they sometimes inflate the grades.

But it's also the effort, I would have thought she could have got a 'very good' in something she enjoys.
