Some celebrity gossip person on Twitter this evening has been posting about how delightful her life is and how happy she is followed by retweeting posts from the young man cory (from glee) also other tweets about will 'nelson Mandela die before the royal baby is born'

I never tweet but for some reason them poor families going through such a gut wrenching time are really in my nind today and I really feel this person is a complete twat, so I tweeted her saying it's insensitive and maybe she should think about the families. ....too which I have received a load of abuse!

What is wrong with people? Does the human race no longer care for others?

Are you new to the internet op? You are being very unreasonable.

To use a celeb gossip monger as a barometer for the human race caring about others, is just silly and ott.

If you look at reputable news outlets, there is plenty of shock, plenty of condolences, plenty of good words being said. About these terrible stories.

When several people can agree that one tosspot on Twitter can doom the whole human race, then you know it is doomed....

Well then I can declare that based solely on this one OP that all people, everywhere, are miserable doom-mongers, and that the end is clearly imminent.

Twitter gives eejits a platform. Don't take it as representative of the entire human race. Yes those sorts of comments are insensitive, but that's the flip side of the coin with social networking.

Agree with Kobay. One twatter says something less than sensitive and suddenly you're decrying the entire human race?

That's a bit silly.

Erm.....

I forgot that unless it is spelt out in tiny little words people don't understand or read what they want to read.

No twitter has no made me think about the human race. The news has made me wonder about the human race.

I'm confused now... I thought the insensitive celeb made you wonder about the human race??? Confused

Does a very elderly man dying make you wonder about the human race? Or the man from glee who died?

The gossiper made me pissed off, and then on reflection thinking about current events I just got a sense that there really is not much good in the world right now.

Why can't someone make a post without being pulled apart..its exactly what I am talking about

you need to make more sense. And its still the same thing, the world is full of good and bad, always has been and always will be.
The only difference is you and your perception of it. Why not try looking on the bright side a bit more?

She has a valid point! Yes people are becoming less sympathetic. I feel for those poor families. Its hard enough grieving for someone, uneven worse when it has to be done in the public eye

People all over the world are c suffering all the time. Should the c rest of us not just live our lives then?

Are people becoming less sympathetic? I think they're getting more so - nauseatingly so most of the time. But you have to remember, for the first time in history, we have access almost instantly to the views of gazillions of people all at once, thanks to the internet. So we're hearing the good stuff as well as the bad - both have always been there, we just didn't hear about it in such vast quantities and so quickly.

And, by the way, the world is getting safer and more peaceful overall. Humanity is getting nicer, believe it or not.

After some things iv heard and seen in last few years its hard to believe. Maybe people are just getting Ruder! Working in retail i swear they are.
But i do feel bad for the families. It hard enough grieving for your loved ones, id hate to do it in front of the public.
