...to ask who to make a cheque for a passport out to, if the government websites don't agree?

The booklet that came with my form says 'Identity & Passport Service' and so does the direct.gov.uk website.

But the booklet says to check the fees on www.gov.uk, which says make the cheque out to 'Her Majesty's Passport Office'

Anyone know which is right, or doesn't it matter?

The booklet and direct.gov website are reliable sources.

Or else why not check at your local post office because they are passport agents - they normally charge a processing fee but you wouldnt be charged if you have done the form yourself and you are only asking that question. Also you will want to get the envelope weighed for the postage, so you will need to go to the PO anyway won't you?

It has just changed to Her Majestys Passport Office.

Direct. Gov is being replaced by gov.uk.

The gov.uk website says:

The Identity and Passport Office is now called Her Majesty?s Passport Office.

Identity and Passport Service or just IPS. ( Post Office worker) Smile

We haven't been told to change the payee so imagine there will be an overlap period.

I was going to weigh it at work and pay for them to post it so I didn't have to queue at the PO! But looking at the booklet, it suggest using secure delivery so I probably will have to anyway...

Thanks.
