should take a long hard look at their own lives.
I know of as single parent who was outraged at having to pay for others not to work. Yet over the years she has generally worked part time. Has received chid benefit for her 2 children and shed loads of wtc especially when dc were young and free education for her dc.
Plus of course she has benefitted from free healthcare etc.
Even someone working on a modest income with dc is likely to actually be getting back more than they put in with dc.
aibu to be truly fed up with this attitude.
Trey being a single person living on £70 a week and still having to pay council tax and all others bills/food except rent on. The person I know doing this worked for 25 years claiming very little back as no dc.

Jakebullet my circumstances similar to yours, Im disabled yet get NO DLA as i can actually just about put both feet on the floor!

fulltime caring for TWO disabled people-we're a right sorry bunch! THEY get DLA, I get carers, HB and the like yet have to pay bedroom tax myself for a broom cupboard (literally) and all other expenses.

and I cant STAND being classed the same as the ob;ligatory scroungers etc that select perfectly described, yet the genuine claimants are the ones that get the hassle and the scroungers get away with it.

and on the other extreme are the fatfaced politicians lining their own pockets with their perks/expenses/pay rises and all the fat cats in banking and other businesses taking their employees for a ride.

martini I wasn't responding to your OP with my last post I was responding to kalids, there are two extremes to these sorts of discussions, on the one extreme you have the "every claimant is a scrounger" type, and on the other you have the "I live on £60/wk JSA and nothing else", the truth is invariably somewhere in between. Typically you have other benefits like HB, CT benefit, frequently people omit to mention they get tax credits, child benefit, DLA, CSA payments (not accusing you specifically of omitting these, I've just seen it happen in similar discussions).

Just to note I am neither of these extremes, I have compassion for people who find themselves in unfortunate circumstances through no fault of their own and am glad they get help, but I don't believe misrepresenting the hardship of benefits is helpful either Smile
