I think I might be suffering from cervical Erosion.

I've been bleeding occasionally after DTD for a year now but haven't seen anyone about it yet as it's not very often and for a while I thought it might be down to being too enthusiastic (scuse the TMI) but it seems to be happening a little more often and is a little worse.

I had an ultrasound (for suspected cysts/appendicitis) in Jan so pretty sure it's not the womb itself and have had a very recent STI check so it's nothing like that.

Should I contact my GP and ask for it to be checked out or should I leave it until it becomes frequent/painful?

Everything's fine besides that and it only happens once or twice a month at the moment.

To be honest I'm just fed up of doctors staring up my fanjo since having DS but I should suck it up really, shouldn't I? Confused

Does anyone know the general procedure? Will I likely be referred to a gynae' clinic?

Keep thinking it's gone away and then it bloody shows up a few weeks/a month later. God I wish I was a man sometimes Grin

You know the answer to this one already don't you?!

Totally agree, it sucks being inspected by various HCPs every thirty seconds, but you need to know what's going on sooner rather than later.

theorchardkeeper · 12/07/2013 17:23

I know I should go but the only GP (woman) I trust to see has already had to see me for fanjo related problems about 4 times this year already...and plenty before from a badly healed episiotomy with DS a couple of years ago.

I can't think what else it could be but most sites I've looked at say that if it doesn't go away by itself/gets worse then it most likely needs treatment.

My mum has had the same so I do wonder if it's extra likely because of that.

Any blokes on here? You're welcome to switch! Hmm Grin

I had a cervical erosion. It was cauterized under general anesthetic so I didn't feel anything at all. The rest of the day and the day after I had a pain and it was hard to sit and stand up.
I was told to expect bleeding for a few weeks afterwards but I got an infection which made me bleed yellow but 2 weeks of antibiotics cleared it right up. I also wasn't allowed to have sex for 6 weeks but due to the infection I waited till about 8 weeks.

It was honestly nothing, you'll feel much better when you've been checked and treated.

DeepRedBetty · 12/07/2013 17:30

Disclaimer I'm not a doctor or anything like it, I know no more about illnesses of the nether regions than any other lay person ... but just because you've seen the GP four times in seven months doesn't mean you're not entitled to go a fifth time! Blood coming out of anywhere when it shouldn't freaks me out.

theorchardkeeper · 12/07/2013 17:32

I'm partly concerned that it'll mean having to travel to the Gynae clinic which is 20 miles away and I have DS, don't drive and am an LP so it's a bugger to get childcare.

It might just be the pill I'm on or something though so I need to try not to think about it too much don't I?

It has really freaked me out drb as it was so infrequent that i'd forget all about it but these past to months it's suddenly been a lot and lasted longer...and isn't always after DTD, which is my main concern.

Thanks for the reply ManAlive' It does help to know what to expect, if that's what it is. I'm pretty sure it's freaked out DP a little bit i'm a tad immune to squeamishness since having DS, seeing as the room we were in looked like a massacre site once I was done with it

I'm very aware that it looks ok to the untrained eye but has obviously endured quite a bit of 'work' to people who know what they're looking at Hmm Grin

*two months - I have a toddler trying to play 'tap' with my phone!

Should also mention that I know it's almost certainly not an infection as everything is otherwise normal down there (and as mentioned, I've had an STI check). I can't think what else it could be, besides possible damage but it's not painful at all or painful DTD.

I'll ring the surgery on Monday and make an appointment.

Sounds a bit silly, seeing as I've managed to have a 10lb baby, but I'm a bit scared Wine

Please see my thread in chat and go now.

theorchardkeeper · 12/07/2013 18:03

Oh, so sorry to hear that Sad Thanks

Hope you're ok?

I can't have a smear because I'm not 25 yet. I have asked though they may have to in this case. I had a few 'internals' whilst I was in hosp in Jan but they didn't feel anything.

They fobbed my mum off with 'it's probably just rough sex' for years before anyone took her seriously so I'm hoping I don't have to fight to be seen by a specialist, if they can't find out what's wrong with me at the GPs.

Won't be the first time I've had to fight for a referral though I suppose!

OP posts:
HoldingHigh · 12/07/2013 18:52

Please go back to your GP Orchard otherwise you'll have a constant worry of what if it's this or that if you don't. As far as smears go I can't see why the GP won't send you for one despite the age - you have irregular bleeding. Request one and if refused ask for a second opinion off someone else. Even if it's just to put your mind at rest.

theorchardkeeper · 12/07/2013 18:55

I've been refused in the past (mentioned it in passing about a year ago when I was getting some more contraceptive pills) but will say that I've already been told to 'wait and see' and it's been a year and is starting to freak me out a bit.

Sounds silly but you never know. My mum's having a hysterectomy because she ended up with permanent issues because it wasn't dealth with for years...so hopefully mentioning that might get things rolling?

OP posts:
HoldingHigh · 12/07/2013 19:01

If you have a family history of issues in that area it gives more of a reason for a smear to be done. Definitely mention it. How much more waiting and seeing do they actually want you to do? Any doctor should know irregular bleeding for a year needs investigating. I hope you can get it sorted soon.

theorchardkeeper · 12/07/2013 19:04

Thank you.

I do feel a bit Hmm about being dismissed before but it wasn't as bad then so I suppose it could've been a few one offs.

My mum did have the Endometrial Ablation (where they cauterize the lining) and a few bits done on the outer cervix but it hasn't stopped the random bleeding or abnormal cells for her, hence the hysterectomy.

It'd just be so nice to not be worrying about it!
