To expect adults to carry tissues if they suffer from hayfever?

I suffer from it too but why don't people carry tissues?!

Spent the last 30 minutes on the tube next to someone who has continually sniffed the entire way.

Would offer him my snotty hanky but sort of need it for myself...

Bad day to forget my earphones! Hmm

Maybe he's already used all his?

CitizenOscar · 11/07/2013 18:27

Sometimes it takes you by surprise. Can be sensitive to only one type of pollen, which might suddenly appear one day, or when passing a specific tree. Or could be a much worse pollen day than anticipated and all tissues have already been used.

If I'm sniffing with no tissue I'd love someone to offer me one & put me out of my misery.

starfishmummy · 11/07/2013 18:27

"HE".....says it all really.

KirjavaTheCat · 11/07/2013 18:28

Oh my god, please tell my OH this. He goes to work most days without tissues and has to run to the bathroom for handfuls of loo-roll. It's not PROPER! Ugh.

If I worked with him I'd steer clear of the snotty grotty fecker.

Definitely NBU tissues always should be available and if not go buy some! Now! I carry these with me and end up saying "do have this and stop sniffing, it is quite revolting to listen to"

pointythings · 11/07/2013 18:44

YANBU but having said that, this year is more than usually awful. I am prepared and am dosed to the eyeballs on every drug I can have, but am still streaming so the tissues might run out - and I have no way of replenishing the supply.

BarbarianMum · 11/07/2013 19:25

I've inadvertently done this on occasion. It happens when I've got through the 3 or 4 packets of tissues I always carry b/w end May and end July quicker than usual. Also, sometimes I do sniff a bit when the blowing is setting off constant nosebleeds.

Some people do have quite bad hayfever, you know Hmm

CloudsAndTrees · 11/07/2013 19:27

Well, I've forgotten to take tampons out when I'm on a period, so in my mind, forgetting tissues is forgivable.

MrsWembley · 11/07/2013 19:31

Actually, with hayfever often sniffing is the only option (other than going around with one or both nostrils plugged up with tissue), as blowing aggravates the problem and increases the production of mucus.

I speak as one who knows. HTH.Smile

I have gotten hayfever for the first tine everin the last few weeks, struck first at a wedding I was mortified!

I had to steal loo roll and put it in my bag, it was grim!

I also got caught out today as I have never had it I havenever had a need to carry tissues if I dont have a cold so had forgotten!

so again - loo roll central :/

Birdy28 · 11/07/2013 22:01

Maybe I was being a bit unreasonable as I guess I didn't consider how bad it might be for him. Smile

However he did sniff continually (literally) so I guess my nerves were a bit raw by the time I posted and after a very shitty day at work. I have since have had wine and am now rather calmer hic

I wouldn't have minded if he had wiped his hooter on a tissue or toiley roll or his sleeve. Smile

Luff you, Birdy!

I've wiped on my sleeve in the past and always considered it the absolute worst of all evils. I'd rather sniff continually, until I see the person next to me wince, before I would wipe on an item of clothing.Grin

But you have come back and admitted you have seen both sides of the argument.

Hayfever is hell and it takes something for a person who hasn't suffered to admit that it doesn't sound good. Thank-you for that, from myself and all the other sniffers out there.Grin
