To ask how it's possible to lose half a stone and none of it off the fat bits?

I've managed to lose half a stone in a month. Which I'm quite pleased with, don't get me wrong, and I don't particularly want to lose any more numbers wise. But hear me out please. I'm in my late 20s and still have the body fat distribution of a prepubescent teenager, I've been stuck in the just about to have a growth spurt/finish developing feminine 'curves' stage since I was 18. I'm fairly slim but then have a disproportionately podgy belly, again think just about to have a growth spurt- which I'm definitely not! I've never been pregnant, I've always eaten healthily and exercised regularly. So I've now lost half a stone, but weirdly none of it has come off my belly, which is definitely where I carry the most fat. What am I doing wrong, or do I just have to accept this is the way I am?

Can you weight train at home or do you need to be in a gym with a trained member of staff showing you what to do?

Have a look round this site for some suggestions on how to start off:-

Also, what to do at home with homemade equipment:-

However, getting proper training to start off with is always the best way to go

I love resistance training. The best part is the fact that you don't even need to have any equipment or a set of dumbells. You can build muscle by just using the weight of your own body.

Interval training is good too. I find it really hard to shift fat off my stomach. It's being an apple shape. I've been doing loads of Jillian Michaels workouts. I've got good definition in my arms, shoulders and legs, but can't seem to shift the jelly belly!

Hadn't thought of water loss, that's a good point actually. It's definitely not fibroids. I'm going to try upping weight reps and see if that makes any difference. Might have a go with an exclusion diet as well, is it possible to have an allergy causing indigestion if there are no other symptoms though?

Wheat makes my stomach bloat immediately with no other symptoms. I look a stone lighter if I eat wheat free.

But cakes are too yummy Grin

Yoni, wheat totally fucks me up. I get instant bloating to the extent that I can gain 7-8 pounds. That's not the worst of it. The heartburn, wind, tiredness and migraines last for a couple of days. Sad

oh meant to add . do you think body type or shape is the key to where you shift weight from first.
i am a pear shaped and always lose from my waist and boobs first. i lost two stone last year and two cup sizes.
i have a tiny back at 30 which was 34. my hips have now
my waist is the same but my hips only lost one dress size.

i am short and my goodness i still look bottom heavy literally.

I've lost 2 stone recently (some baby weight but also a stone of "proper" weight) and am now about 8.5 stone at 5ft4 - and I look slim but what amazes me is that I don't look thin! How thin must celebs and models be to be so actually thin!

I have nice collar bones now but still quite wobbly thighs.

I'm done though, am finally happy with how I look in clothes for the first time in 10 years.

Yeah, most of that is probably water loss.

I lost five stone, I lift heavy weights but still can't lose the fat on my stomach. If I lose anymore fat it will probably come off my arms and legs which would then look too skinny.

I know if I low carb I will look less bloated but I love carbs and would rather the extra stomach fat I think Grin

A lot of mine is lose skin from 5 children and losing 5 stone or so I like to think to make myself feel better

I think low carbing is amazing for health and weight and I did it for a long while but at the moment I am not in the right frame of mind for it.

me too, me too! My bum and thighs are always fine, but I have a podgy tum. The only time it didn't look crap was when I was pregnant - then people kept commenting on how slim I looked (strange but true!).

I am currently doing squillions of sit-ups in an attempt to do something about it before I go on my hols with my glamorous sister-in-law who looks amazing despite also having 2 kids. Problem is, every time I get on the floor to do them my 2 year old jumps on top of me....

I do a cyclic low carb diet. I carb up every 3 days to replete my glycogen stores to power my mega workout days. It helps in the long run, because you have more energy.

It may b what you're eating- try. Week of NO bread or pasta, drink LOADS of water and cut down on sugar and alcohol, bet it's a bit flatter then? Works for me as a quicker fix
Good luck and keep up good work
