"Monday is fine, except that it is the day I have my younger son back early from the childminder. If you feel a constructive meeting can be held in the presence of a potentially stroppy one year old, that's OK", and then some other stuff offering alternatives round work.

I was just saying that I'd have to bring the baby if she wanted to stick to the time she'd suggested, but didn't really think about how I'd phrased it until I'd dashed off the reply and pressed send. DS 1 is in year 8 and having a few fairly serious problems, and I think school and I want to sort it out as much as possible before end of term.

Does that bit of my reply sound rude?

I would forward that email on (so the message is included), and just write as you have I your OP (just re-read this message, just to clarify this was not sarcastic...)

Sounds fine to me, I wouldn't think it rude at all.

I hoped it didn't sound rude; I just read it back and wondered, especially as I don't think we quite saw eye to eye (at all, actually) in the meeting we had today, and we both had to cut short due to other commitments, hence the rearranging to talk further.
