to not kill the bees

My next door neighbour put a note in my door complaining about wasps in my garden she offered to help pay to get rid of them but having no money I couldn't even afford half an exterminator fee. So off I hop and get wasp killer and go hunting for the nest, I didn't find or hear a single wasp so decided she must be mistaken and they were coming from someone else and since she didn't mention it again I just left it at that. That was several weeks ago and when I finally got round to cutting my grass I moved a parasol and found a nest in the ground Shock except its not wasps its bees and exterminators don't do bees so I tried beekeepers and they are bumble not honey so they won't help either. The thing is since I moved the parasol they've filled the garden and seem to be enjoying my flowers they've been harmless as I sit out there and I've grown quite fond of themGrin I'm loathe to kill them as they'll die out in autumn anyway and they aren't harming anyone, if she asks again would I be unreasonable to say that no I won't kill them sorry , the only reason I'm even considering her feelings is there is a young child in there .

i had bumble bees last year - i phone a bee keeper for advice and this is what he told me.

They move on - come the end of summer they will vacate the nest and be gone.
there will only be a couple of hundred of them at most and they wont bother you. At all.

Dont kill them. Our bee population in general is vastly in decline and if the bees die out then so do we - its true - google it.

leave them well alone. I was worried as i have a dog who is a bit stupid - but they left her alone. They are far too busy doing bee stuff to bother with us - plus if a bee stings it dies - so its a very last resort for a bee to sting.

if you need advice call the council who will give you the number of a bee keeper to speak to for advice.

if they were honey bees then a keeper would definitely move them for you but there would be 20,000 or more if they were honey bees - bumbles do move on though so next year you wont have them....by sept they will be long gone.

i rather miss mine.

I had bumble bees living under our rented house one year. They got in through a hole in the masonry beside the patio doors. I was a bit worried as DS1 was about 15mo but they are so sweet and bumbley and didn't go near him (DS did need telling a few times not to try and catch them though!)

I love bees,I encourage them in my yard. I grow things they like. I leave areas "wild". I have several holes in my yard they live in and watching them is an endless source of entertainment for me Sh and Dd2.

My favorite are my carpenter bees though, they are truly awesome :o
They live in my old and slightly rotten fence post. They hang out right in front of your face when your sitting on my deck, they look at you and are very big so you can actually see them checking you out. You can hear them munching the fence too when its quiet. I refuse to change the fence while they live there.I look for them every summer,Ive had them about 5 years now.

I love bees :o

Never ever kill bees.

They are the bee's knees of the winged creatured world.

Oh good I'm not the only one who enjoys themGrin of course if she comes and tells me someone in there is allergic to bee stings I'll have to think again but if it's just a general fear I'll say they stay , I'm not sure how to react if she says she has a phobia. On the one hand I understand uncontrollable fears on the other innocent bees

call a bee keeper for some advice - moving bumble bees though is difficult - they wont even be there for long.

my dd is very allergic - she carries an epi pen - i still wouldnt kill them. I always make sure dd has epi pen and piriton to hand - after all - you can be stung absolutely anywhere by anything.

dont kill them Sad mine were gone within weeks. They just move out. They honestly never bothered us at all.
