I'm not a mum but can I answer?

My sky+ app works as a remote Shock

I have a vagina.

ouryve · 08/07/2013 19:46

I have a remote control for our Squeezebox (Internet Radio/MP3 player) on my iPad.

Why is it a man thing? Hmm

ouryve · 08/07/2013 19:47

Ah - I've worked it out - maybe it works better if you use a penis, instead of a stylus or finger Hmm

UniS · 08/07/2013 19:50

I don't need a TV remote, I don't have a TV. We do have a CD player remote but its simpler to go and press eth buttons , there is a DVD player remote kicking about somewhere but I think the batteries are flat.

Naoko · 08/07/2013 19:54

Why does 'your DH' have three remote controls? Do you not live with him, in which case that's a reasonable statement? Because if you do live with him, then surely you also have three remote controls, unless you're not allowed to touch them, in which case you have far bigger problems than whether or not an app is man-oriented.

And FWIW, I have a Samsung TV, and a Samsung phone, and I do have the remote control app on said phone because I can never find the bloody remote, whereas when I can't find my phone, I can at least still ring it. Works fine despite my lack of penis. DP neither knows nor cares how the app works. (And why, in this age of voice activated technology, can't I shout 'where is the bloody remote' and have it start beeping, anyway?)

Trills · 08/07/2013 19:54

Your title makes no sense.

Do you mean to ask "AIBU to think that this app is man orientated?"?

Justfornowitwilldo · 08/07/2013 19:55

What a weird thread.

I can do that from my iPad. I have yet to discover my penis.

Mckayz · 08/07/2013 19:56

Naoko, that is a great idea. Get yourself on Dragons Den!!! I'd love a remote that beeped if I shouted for it!

I use the Sky+ app to change channels. No penis here.

CoalDustWoman · 08/07/2013 20:00

I think it's you that has the preconceived idea.

I, on the other hand, have both a vagina and 2 tv remote apps on my phone.

Are "lighthearted threads" the new "I'm not ...ist, but"?

ParkerTheThief · 08/07/2013 20:06

Um, I've downloaded similar onto my ipad and iPhone and last time I looked I wasn't a man.
If the app was called the man remote or similar you might have a point but there isn't anything to stop non penis owners downloading it and setting it up.

Hmm

👹

Justfornowitwilldo · 08/07/2013 20:16

Because as adult women, many of whom have had children, we will surely faint at the mention of sex.

ImNotBloody14 · 08/07/2013 20:17
Confused

why is it man orientated? do they only let men download it?

CoalDustWoman · 08/07/2013 20:26

I've just realised - all those cock shots that men send women on dating websites were meant to be sent to i-Tunes or Google Play, weren't they?

IneedAyoniNickname · 08/07/2013 20:28

Well I don't have the app as I.didn't know about it. Seriously tempted now though, if it will be compatible with my tv etc. Then the fact that the DVD remote is always going missing wouldn't matter!

Iaintdunnuffink · 08/07/2013 21:34

Such an odd thread.

I have an app the tv on my iPad and phone. I also have an app for the Sky box on my iPad. I also have an app for the router that picks up media on various devices on our network and plays it on the tv. Its a function I discovered once when our family photos appeared during a vital part of a film when i was messing about with settings. I also have an app for my media server. I bought the tv, set it up & set up the controllers.

reggiebean · 08/07/2013 22:23

I'm not a mum, but I'm not a man either, and I use apps on my phone as remotes sometimes, to answer your question.

Maybe you just need to broaden your horizons a bit? Confused

Sheshelob · 08/07/2013 22:26

I don't think OP will be back after her "joke".

Hmm
