We are going to trinity sur la mer in a few weeks. I haven't been brave enough totey public feeding here yet; due to a tongue tie which is now sorted, and a very enthusiastic let down reflex (which can result in poor Ds looking more like he has tried to bathe in milk rather than drink it). So to avoid hosing down any passers by I would obviously use a muslin or something as a cover, but I wondered how it was viewed in France- I can only find wildly differing things online and mostly they relate to Paris not southern Brittany. I just don't want to get in trouble for doing it, or not be able to feed him somewhere if it is frowned upon.
Any experiences welcomed.

I've fed in lots of different areas in France, babies and toddlers, restaurants, beaches, markets, cafes basically everywhere and have never even had a raised eyebrow. All recently too! Do it you will be fine!

I wss going to say the same as dino. Bf is encouraged in Islam and I have always felt positively regarded and comfortable bf in muslim areas. In fact, at our local baby cafe there are several veiled women feeding toddlers usually.

I got stared at in rural France but not in an aggressive way. I think they just never see it.

Breastfeeding is encouraged in Islamic culture so you don't need to worry about that. Fully veiled woman often bf in public.

I breast fed in France (rural Perigord) and didn't get any odd looks. I think you will be fine

I bf mine whilst on a guided tour of Mont St Michel - he was about 7 months old at the time and it was the easiest way of keeping him quiet so we could all hear the tour guide...

In areas with lots of veiled women, to be honest, I would avoid feeding my baby

You would avoid feeding a hungry baby in areas with lots of veiled woman..? Why would you place (what you perceive to be) the sensitivities of muslim women over the needs of your small baby.

Just been in France with an 11 mth old -Nice, would say saw some people breastfeeding, normally wouldn't notice but you do when you've done it. High chairs variable, the more touristy restaurants were better to be honest, baby changing not as good as here and nappies much more expensive.
However would say no probs taking a baby out to a restaurant compared to Britain, much more relaxed, even if you have to sit with them on your knee !
