House one street over from me have obviously gone on hols and left their teens at home.

Last night they had a party in the garden, laughing, shouting, screaming which is fine, I fell asleep about midnight

I was woken up at 1.15am and then 3.30am by same (my window is kind of parallel with their back garden). I finally gave in and closed my windows.

I was beyond tired this morning but thought never mind I get a good night sleep tonight. Anyway they're out there again now, I feel like crying Hmm just want one good night sleep where I don't get disturbed and don't have to get up for work.

WWYD?

Council will have noise nuisance hotline number.

Wiifitmama · 06/07/2013 22:27

Every council has a noise team. Call them and they will come out.

Mosschops30 · 06/07/2013 22:29

Ok thanks, will give them til 11 to be fair, I didn't know that!

Does it matter if its just shouting etc rather than music?

Would you feel comfortable just going over and asking them to keep it down?

Mosschops30 · 06/07/2013 22:38

No I'm on my own here with 3 dcs so not really an option.
I'm sure they're all lovely really, just loud Smile

Eilidhbelle · 06/07/2013 22:43

Well then yep, I would wait til 11 and phone. Hope you get a good night!

Mosschops30 · 06/07/2013 22:53

The council weren't much help, said they couldn't do anything if I didn't have the house number Hmm

Fakebook · 06/07/2013 22:56

That's ridiculous. I once complained about an animal deterrent alarm that used to go off every day at dusk. When I called the council, the man came around with this sound testing device and then walked up the street until he worked out which house it was coming from. Your council sound lazy.

Mosschops30 · 06/07/2013 23:09

It's the same now as last night as they drink more they shout louder Hmm

MumnGran · 06/07/2013 23:14

Call the local police and complain.
They will usually come, and just take a calm approach to asking the kids to tone it down Smile

knitcorner · 06/07/2013 23:17

Google maps will show you house numbers won't it?

notanyanymore · 06/07/2013 23:19

How old are they? I'd report more as concern re their welfare and the property not being damaged rather then noise. They won't attend noise but should attend if you raise concerns re safety/property.

Mosschops30 · 06/07/2013 23:28

I don't think they're young, sound like older teens, maybe early 20s even

The noise is terrible though, I don't know why they have to shout at each other

NoComet · 06/07/2013 23:33

If and only if they are making a notice after midnight two nights running you might be justified in complaining, but it is a beautiful summers evening.

1.15am if people were noisy leaving is annoying, but hardly a crime as a one off. 3am is unreasonable and party's and late noise two nights running is pushing your luck.

Mosschops30 · 06/07/2013 23:36

Absolutely one night is ok, it's lovely weather and everyone likes to enjoy a beer in the garden with friends, but you kind of expect it done by midnight ish.

At 3.30am someone was out the garden making that ooo-ooo noise that's really irritating, they were all still out there shouting. They're still at it now and no doubt will be at 3.30am again Hmm

OP posts:
NoComet · 06/07/2013 23:40

Parties, misplaced apostrophes are unreasonable.

Now if your neighbours partied until 3am and were awake at 6.30 that would be very very very unreasonable.

Not only was DD2 and one of her friends wide awake at dawn, they were practicing gymnastics over the sofa arm.

Mosschops30 · 07/07/2013 00:16

Just rang the council again, they said there won't be a response because I can't give a house number.
I have given them an exact description of where the house is in relation to mine but that's no good

So I either go round or suck it up Hmm

Darkesteyes · 07/07/2013 00:19

Do what my neighbour did Go round there and stand in the garden at 9am and blast them with some Bon Jovi or better still Slipknot.

Mosschops30 · 07/07/2013 00:44

Ooh the man from the council is coming, someone else has complained Grin

Did you manage to get some sleep?

You have my deepest sympathies though.

Last summer we had students living in the flat opposite ours and as the weather got warmer their regular Friday and Saturday night parties would get louder and longer. The council refused to help but it reached a head one night when one of our neighbours stuck his head out the window and bellowed for them to shut up at about 1.30 am (second night in a row, third week running). We then got 2 hours of some woman with a laugh like a horse shouting, "I don't give a fuck," back in our general direction. Don't know why no-one in their block complained (or perhaps they did), anyway the police were there the next morning at 8 and they moved out shortly afterwards.

You expect a bit more nose when the weather's nice but this kind of thing just takes the piss
