WIBU to put the dog in the car

and drive to the field we usually walk to for his run?

The case for the defence: 1) I have the bladder of fiery burning death cystitis and am at the loo every half-hour or so. Driving there would knock the overall walk time in half and means I could just about hang on if I pee right before we leave and as soon as I come back. The field is by the roadside but slightly lower than the road itself IYSWIM so a bit exposed if I got caught short, hedge-side. 2) DH is out with his DCs and I don't know what time they'll be back, otherwise I would wait and ask him to walk the dog.

The case for the prosecution: 1) it's going to be quite hot in the car. But I can open all the windows and put his travelling water bowl in the back for him, and it's not as though it involves leaving him in the car alone at all. 2) It's lazy as fuck a bit pathetic.

WWYD, Oh Wise Ones of MN?

Put him in the car. It won't hurt him and he can still have his run at the field. If it is as hot with you as it is here, he might not want much of a run in any case. I'm not taking MuttDog until about 9 tonight - she's currently panting on the kitchen floor.

As long as you're driving with loads of ventilation it will be fine - maybe bring a bowl and a bottle of water just in case. It's leaving them in cars that's the problem, not driving them.

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 06/07/2013 19:09

Put him in the car, it's fine. Nobody wants long walks when they're feeling rough, or to have to pee in front of an audience of car drivers! It's obviously a short drive so he won't over heat down there.

bittenipples · 06/07/2013 19:09

Sounds okay to me. Have windows open and don't leave him in there, but you know that!

Enjoy the lovely evening!

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 06/07/2013 19:09

Over heat down there? Good lord I meant on the way down there!

I hope you're right about the reduced running LtEve but I have to point out he is a Springer. A stupid Springer. A stupid Springer who will only poo on grass, hence why I can't wait much longer to take him out (we only have a yard). He's doing the sad "take me out" spaniel eyes on me now.

Grin and Hmm Diseases. Given the burning pee situation, if I overheat any more "down there" I'll be featuring on future woo programmes as the latest case of human spontaneous combustion.

Right. Car it is. MN has spoken.

are you looking afte ryourself as well as the dog? lots and lots and lots of water and cymalon or similar. poor you, cystitis is horrible. x

SelectAUserName · 06/07/2013 20:13

I am back. I survived. I did not have to pee in the hedge. My dog has not melted. I didn't get locked into the private car park that I naughtily parked in.

froglet I have retired to the sofa with a 2l bottle of water and my last Cymalon sachet of the day. I'm not moving now. (Except to go to the loo, obvs.) Thank you for your kind words.
