To think I SHALL wear what I want!

Went to collect DD from a school club this afternoon as I finished work early (DH usually does this)
Whilst waiting for her, a Mum of a child in another class looked at my shoes and said to me 'Not very appropriate shoes for the school run.' (I was wearing my high wedge sandals which I love!)
So I said I'd just come from work, so she asked what I did, and when I said teacher she did a cat's bum face and said 'Not very appropriate for teaching either I should think.'
Luckily DD appeared at that point Grin

Just amazed that the woman thought it right to make comments about my choice of clothes. Judgy pants.

I had a comment about being over dressed for the school run once when I dived in to get him after driving 150 miles back from a job interview! I was fully suited and booted and they are used to seeing me in my scruffy, but still thought it was a bit rude!

OOO the cheeky mare! I'd have said something like "ah well, I have other shoes, pity you have no manners" or worse or something similar - it's always the way when someone is rude out of the blue though - I think of loads of fab retorts hours afterwards when it's too late...
She's probably just in awe at your style and taste and jealous cos she hasn't got a pair Wink

You should have said "well, normally I wear my thigh high leather boots but it was a bit warm for them today so I settled for the wedges"

There's a phrase in French for those pithy comebacks that you can never think of at the time. But I can't remember what it is.

Maybe she reads the daily mail and would expect you to be wearing combat boots and a stab vest when in proximity to a school and the yoofs within.

Sanity I know her to say hello to but not her name/names of her children etc as her children are younger.

Yes, Yoni, and a low cut blouse, and a fascinator in your hair, and fishnet stockings, and a bow tie. And ask, in a very concerned voice, if she thinks it's suitable for the school run.
