to want to chop off my boobs?

NotYoMomma · 04/07/2013 19:44

they are too bloody big :(

I was a size 14 (currently preg and in the awkward in betweeny fat/pregnant phase)

my boobs are a J cup.

A J

I cant get a strapless style from even bravissimo and its bloody expensive!
I'm also thinking I dont want to breastgeed this baby (couldnt with dd but thought I would give it another go) because

  1. They would get even bigger and more uncomfortable
  2. last time I tried to bf I had to prop them up with a towel as they are like pigging boulders

I think If I just chopped them off it would be so much better. I fantasise about this - I think I could go from obese to bloody normal range they are so heavy (they were before I got pregnant, I have lost weight this pregnancy due to healthier eating too!)

I have ongoing back issues that dont coubt as serious (repeated sciatica and general soreness)

do you think I could get a breast reduction on the NHS as I just cant take it anymore! ive had this since IBlush ml was 16! I'm now 28 and thinking of fetching the kitchen knife Sad

Don't know but if its affecting your life you should definitely ask your GP about surgery.

ZipItShrimpy · 04/07/2013 19:49

I hate mine too. So huge.

I long to be able to walk about comfortably without a bra. If I ever manage to get to a normal weight I would definitely consider surgery to reduce them and lift them.

You have my full sympathy.

NotYoMomma · 04/07/2013 19:49

i'll have to wait for ages due to pregnancy and milk etc I am so stressed out

I will def speak to GP when I can, maybe even earlier just so they know how much it affects me.

ive had therapy and hypnotherapy for needle phobia but I would stick a cannula in my own hand if they would do it. Sad

I tried on a lovely dress today and it fit lovely but I couldnt buy it as they dont make many plunge bras in that size and I couldnt find one that didnt show.

I wear cardigans in the heat (despite not having massive huge arms) because if I raise my arm there is no such thing as sideboob but side bra!

and always in a God awful 'you there! you shall be resigned to white black or beige and the happy that I fit!' shades.

I have 3 bras.

3 - I am waiting until payday to buy my next bra.

and matching knickers? fuck you bravissimo and your 10 - 16 quid for a pair of beige pants. Shock

Much sympathy I was 32j with Dd1 I actually got smaller feeding her and despite spending most of the last 5 years pregnant or breastfeeding now I'm stopping they are going back to 30dd/e. Still can't get supermarket bras. For nursing I got hotmilk bras from new Zealand go to their website to see UK stockists and mail order. Really pretty, nor beige and much nicer, though sadly still as expensive as bravissimo.

I would also like mine reduced and hoiked up ... Can but dream.

SouthernerinMCR · 04/07/2013 20:20

I could have written your post NotYoMamma. I'm a size 14 and my boobs went up from a FF cup to a LL cup when I was pregnant with DS and they have stayed the same size (I am now 7 months pregnant). I get really depressed about them and refuse to have my photo taken because I am so embarassed / self conscious about them. I too dream about chopping them off. It is actually seriously affecting my life as I don't like going out in public these days and my back permanently aches. My sister is getting married soon and I am seriously thinking about all sorts of excuses so I don't have to attend as I don't want there to be any chance of photos being taken. Plus I can't seem to find any suitable outfit to wear (don't get me started on bras).
With NHS cuts I fear the likelihood of getting a reduction is nil and so I'm hoping a starvation diet will work once baby number 2 arrives. If not, I really don't know what I will do Sad

foreverondiet · 04/07/2013 20:22

Discuss gp and emphasis how much it's affecting your life / back. You might need to lose weight before they will operate though....and obviously have to wait until after pregnancy.

DuchessofHaphazard · 04/07/2013 20:22

Much sympathy - I'm a 34K / KK / L (bfing at the moment, normally a 34J). Hate, hate HATE buying clothes, nothing fits on top (I end up having to wear shirts in a size 20 / 22 so I don't get button gape). However...there are some good online places for bras and clothes for big boobs:

Mine have always been big, I lost weight a few years ago and they reduced in size but then I got pregnant and they ballooned. I didn't breast feed for long, I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but they have stayed huge and my baby is 7 months old. They're massive, nothing looks right on me, most bras are uncomfortable and my back hurts. I'm really down about it, so I understand. I'm a size 14 at the moment, I'm dieting to get back to a size 10/12 to see if it makes a difference but I've gone from a size 18 and they don't feel any smaller. I think you should speak to your GP.

melody1771 · 04/07/2013 20:30

Hi
My sympathies are with you. I had a breast reduction about 8 years ago and I have never looked back. I think you will be advised to wait about a year after giving birth.....but I might have dreamed that. the surgery is available on the NHS as long as you have a healthy BMI...they wont do it if you are overweight which is a bit harsh as massive boobs do kind of stop one from exercising.

I had mine done privately and paid £4700 which sounds a lot but I took out a bank loan and paid it back gradually. Well worth it. I met someone who paid hers back over 10 years which meant she didn't pay much each month but I think she paid a lot of interest though.

I would recommend you go to www.breasthealthonline.com they are wonderfully supportive on there and will advise you of everything you can do. They have a UK section where you can talk to British people who had one on the NHS.

I did have mine done until I was about 35 and my only regret is that I did't have it done when I was 20!

Good luck
Mel

HappySeven · 04/07/2013 20:53

I have two friends who have had their breasts reduced on the NHS. Speak to your GP.

MunchMunch · 04/07/2013 22:26

I had a reduction last year. Best thing EVER!

Unfortunately I lost my nipples/areola but i knew there was a risk by having a free nipple graft that this would happen but i wanted small (was a 36j) my nipples were really sensitive and tbh i wanted to snip them off on more than one occasion. At least now i don't have to worry about sticky out nips in the cold weather Grin

Just to add, tattooing of nips/areola is an option and results are supposed to look very good.

hiddenhome · 04/07/2013 22:38

I had mine reduced when I was 22.

I breastfed ds2 and they grew back Sad I am absolutely gutted as I'm back to square one. I'm a size 14 on the bottom and an 18-20 on top. I hate, hate, hate them and would love them to be removed too.

Twattybollocks · 04/07/2013 23:48

Yanbu. I am cursed with meganorks and I hate hate hate them. I'm a size 16 and a 34i cup. I hate that my breasts dominate whatever outfit I've managed to shoehorn them into, I loathe the hideously ugly industrial style scaffolding that counts as a bra, I hate the fact that one side is a full cup size smaller than the other, so I always have one spilling over and one lurking in the bottom of a half empty cup like Billy no mates, but most of all, I hate the backache, the shoulder strain. I've promised myself a reduction/uplift/matching pair once I've finished feeding dd, and I can't bloody wait. I will most definitely be burning my bras once its done!

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 04/07/2013 23:56

Hi, I'm a j cup too, size 14 and applied for funding on NHS to have a reduction and it was granted. Have a consultant appointment next week. So sounds like you might get funding too so suggest you ask your gp.

beccake · 05/07/2013 05:19

I'm current sat BF with my 36jj's, pre pregnancy I was 34 gg/h. I use my arm to support boob whilst holding DD head as the towel under boob was a faff and got in the way. I found hot milk bras do go up big enough. Have a look online rather than bravissimo. My DD has got reflux big boobs who have helped as she rests on them the angle they put her at help! I stopped using bravissimo after going to an independent place where the girls were Rigby and Pellar trained put me in a different size correct bra to say the least it was a heaven. The bras were more than I have ever paid for underwear. The bras are comfortable, beautiful and I don't care who sees the bra now. The difference resulted in a few tears they just don't do maternity bras though. I went to my gp about reduction but I'm a wimp. So have some
Flowers

beccake · 05/07/2013 05:22

Yanbu I think it's quite normal to view it like them like that.
