To wish hayfever was just sneezing?

Some people I know think hayfever is just sneezing and are genuinely shocked when I say it's so much more!

I get sneezing, itchy eyes, sore throat, sinus headache, nausea from the drip of snot at the back of my throat, drowsiness and just generally feeling blah!

Antihistamines aren't even helping much this time. :(

It's a lot more crippling than people realize! evil pollen grrr

YANBU.
I am suffering hard! I'm congested, can't breath through my nose. I feel so drowsy it's ridiculous. My nose runs like a tap without warning and oh the itchy eyes!!! 😟

I wouldn't wish Hay Fever on anyone!

Dejected · 06/07/2013 16:18

The roof of my mouth itches constantly, my nose is blocked, my eyes itch and I can't sleep.

hayfever is so horrible and anyone who says otherwise obviously don't get it. It's like the worst cold and chest infection. I just feel like hibernating.

It is bad this year. I suffered terribly as a child but had sort of grown out of it and only had to take antihistamines occasionally after about 25. This year has been really unpleasant.. Constant headache, eyes that feel full of grit that I know better than to touch, post nasal drip aaaaand sneezing!

Grim.

YANBU. For the first time in over 30 years I have NOT had hayfever at all this year (so far, touches wood, crosses everything that can be crossed) - I have been gradually growing out of it for the last couple of years and I am so thankful I could cry with relief. It sounds so innocuous but it is a horrible, debilitating, exhausting condition to live with. I have spent far too many hot summer days being teased because the only way I could get even temporary minimal relief was to sit indoors with the windows shut, dosed up on everything going with an inhaler within reach, while everyone else was out in the sunshine.

Yesterday evening DS had a severe reaction.

Sudden throat closing to the point he couldn't talk, gagging in antihistamines as couldn't swallow, nearly vomiting and clutching at throat. Eyes swelled and face went puffy. He was coughing uncontrollably.

It's the closest I've ever come to giving him his Epi pen. Sad

Today has been Piriton all day and usual cetirizine and nasal spray. Poor boy.

Your poor DS! (and poor you).

YANBU. I am taking loratidine in the morning, cetirizine at about 6pm, three doses of nasal spray a day, eye drops at least twice a day, plus ventolin. I think this is about the worst I've had since my GCSE year.

I've just eaten a packet of jelly tots because the sugar on them is nice and scratchy at the back of my throat, although I haven't figured out how to get them to the itchy bit between my throat & ears...
