To enjoy a glass of wine once a day whilst breastfeeding?

I am drinking one glass of wine every evening (125 mls measured) and I am exclusively breastfeeding my three week old son. Due to the nature of BFing at this age I try but not always successfully to avoid feeding for an hour afterwards. Thoughts please!

Congratulations!

I think that's wise and beneficial if you can. Not due to risk for your child ingesting any pass through but more for your health and mood and obviously any complications with co-sleeping.

As a slight aside it wasn't until I came on MN that I realised quite how many people drink every day, and how much some drink regularly.
I had always viewed news articles on the subject with a little scepticism as even the hardcore big city workers I know are toning it down - the only people I know that drink everyday are the 2 alcoholics in the family - but there are people having half a bottle of wine a night, with dinner and then a 'relaxation' glass, like it's a totally normal intake.
People can do whatever they like obviously, it just surprised me that that was baseline with a bit extra at weekends/holidays.

there's an interesting study here which suggests that children's scores on IQ tests and various other developmental tests at 18 months were positively correlated with the mother's alcohol intake while breastfeeding- ie the kids of the mothers who drank more actually did better on the tests. I'm not any kind of statistician though, so could well be interpreting this wrongly...
