Strawbs is the worst one I've heard recently. Veg, spag bol and pots also set my teeth on edge. I don't mind so much when they are written down, it's when they're said out loud that I find it fills me with rage irritating. None of these are particularly difficult words to say so why? Why do it? Anyone else feel my pain, or am I just weird?

(In case anyone asks, I know it isn't the biggest problem in the world, and yes I do have better things to worry about Wink.)

DENMAN03 - You are clearly suffering a very bad case of this terrible affliction. The only real cure is to go and smash yourself in the face with a gravy boat, right now. You will thank me in the long run.

pots, toms, rotts, nions, aubs, nanas, anymore for anymore!

LalyRawr · 03/07/2013 15:54

We're having curry for dinner tonight. If OH calls it a 'ruby' I may have to kill him.

Reckon I could use this thread as evidence of justifiable homocide?

vladthedisorganised · 03/07/2013 16:05

I thought 'shrooms referred to the hallucinogenic type? If that many people have 'shrooms on toast of a morning it would explain the proliferation of breadybunbuns and tommy taters...

DENMAN03 · 03/07/2013 16:17

You are right.. I will dig out the gravy boat for said face smashing!! :)

Arabesque · 03/07/2013 16:31

A girl in work calls chocolate biscuits 'choccy bics' and I always have to sit on my hands to stop me mashing one into her face! Angry

Oblomov · 03/07/2013 16:37

surprised it angers you thta much.
I say chilli and spag bol.Mash.
Few of the others I am guilty of. Some of them are so poncey they are ridiculous.

Sparrowlegs248 · 03/07/2013 17:29

Nothing used to rile me more than hearing mother tell my nephews 'eat your trees' ffs

We did have strangled legs courtesy of my sister aged 3.

Solari · 03/07/2013 17:37

I'm guilty of 'veg' and 'mash'.

I'm also ridiculously torn over whether to adopt "hamwidge" Grin

We drink Vera in our house.

Macaroni and cheese is correct to whoever said it wasn't

MerryMarigold · 03/07/2013 22:22

Macaroni and cheese is american

MintyChops · 04/07/2013 00:21

Not sure it's strictly relevant but I will KILL the next twat person who puts up a photo of their food or a fucking recipe on Facebook and puts "nom nom nom" beside it. Even writing it down makes me want to harm myself.....

ComposHat · 04/07/2013 01:13

There was an ASDA (I think) TV advert offering a special offer on Tommy K. I had no idea what it was until I heard an uncouth person use it for Ketchup.

I assumed Tommy K was a new perfume or an album from one of those rap singers that you see on the Top of the Pops.

MrsCosmopilite · 04/07/2013 09:14

Bumpato it was me....

"Macaroni and cheese, also called "mac and cheese" in American English, Canadian English, and Australian English; "macaroni pie" in Caribbean English; and "macaroni cheese" in the United Kingdom, and New Zealand"

I maintain my stance :)

Agree, Compos - I thought Tommy K was going to be another bum-slung trousered, vest and hat (but no shirt) wearing 'em-cee'.

muminthecity · 04/07/2013 10:00

MintyChops - I am with you all the way. Posting a photo of your dinner on facebook is bad enough - why the fuck you think I want to see a photo of your "spag bol with veg" is beyond me - but the accompanying om nom noms send me over the edge.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 04/07/2013 10:03

I'm with you on the 'noms' mintychops

Unforgiveable. The noms make me vom.

MerryMarigold · 04/07/2013 10:35

OK. I may say brekkie, veg and chilli, but I would NEVER say nom nom nom. A step too far. When did yum turn into nom anyway? Isn't it French?

MintyChops · 04/07/2013 10:43

That has given me the idea to post "vom vom vom" beside it.....

MerryMarigold · 04/07/2013 10:46

Hmmmmm...the word vom is about as bad as the word nom.

MintyChops · 04/07/2013 10:51

Oops!! And I was just about to withdraw the suggestion in the grounds that it might encourage them.....

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 04/07/2013 10:52

Maybe post "punch punch punch" instead?

MerryMarigold · 04/07/2013 11:05

Grin punch punch punch is brill (obv with no commas as nom nom nom never has any)

vladthedisorganised · 04/07/2013 11:17

"Hubby's just made me some spaggy bol - yummerzz!!" #nomnomnom
