To think that the children hurtling up and down my road on micro scooters should be in bed!

There are 2 girls playing out in my street, 1 about 10, the other is 9 and has SN (in my daughter's class but I don't know the family or where they live)

There is no one with them and its nearly 10pm!

I've asked the one I recognise if their mums know they are out and apparently they do and they have to be in before it gets dark!

Omg!

Well they will be going in soon anyway I guess. Not something I would do personally but each to there own.

I might be tempted if I knew they weren't going to sleep or stay in their rooms - I expect they do stay in their rooms at 10 though and not trail down the stairs every 10 minutes asking for a drink/hug/random existential query like my 4 year old?

It depends on how safe the area is considered really.

It's a lovely light, warm evening and God knows we haven't had many so far.

If the parents are looking out their windows for them every now and then, I don't see a problem unless there's something you haven't told us...like the area is full of gangs or something?

You don't say what the special needs are or even hint at how they affect the child...so it's difficult to call on that basis too.

Worra I don't know the extent of her SN other than she has an adult with her at school all the time

Neither child lives on my road so don't see how they are keeping an eye

Quiet area but I live opposite a park, there is a pub at one end of the road and a takeaway and late shop at the other so not really suitable for a couple of primary school children on their own -they are still out btw

Well it's dark now so they should be at home

But other than that, lots of kids play out late on warm summer evenings.

However, they should at least be in window view for their parents to keep an eye out.
