To think that these MNers are rude?

Thirty + MNers went along to an organised event at the newly refurbished Mothercare store in Edmonton, were given free food and drink at Costa, had their DC entertained by an excellent storyteller/music person, had a guided tour and lots of time to play in the amazing ELC area and were then given a goody bag with toys and magazines. I had a great time, as did my DC. Only 19 (unless I can't count) bothered to leave feedback in return. I wonder how many other MNers who trial free stuff don't bother spending 10 minutes writing feedback. AIBU to think that's really rather rude?

Was it part of the event that they were supposed to give feedback afterwards? Did they know that was a requirement?

If the agreement is that we will do X and you will do Y then it is certainly not on to honour your part of it.

If feedback was optional, then it wasn't rude to not opt to leave it, although it would have been better to do it.

Also, when was the event? If it was yesterday or the day before, or the day before that... then perhaps people haven't had chance yet. If it was a month ago, then they probably ought to have.

Finally, do they all know how to leave the feedback? Did you all get emails about it or info on the day?

So. I dunno if they're rude or not yet. Grin

To not honour your part of it, that should read

HoneyDragon · 28/06/2013 10:51

So 11 as far as you can see haven't YET left feedback. Are you timing them?

HoneyDragon · 28/06/2013 10:52

Or perhaps the 11 left poor feedback so it is not shown?

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 28/06/2013 10:52

You don't know why they chose not to give feedback but yes, as it goes if someone has taken the time and trouble to provide entertainment, food etc for free then of course I will always give feedback. Surely thats the reason everything was free in the first place?

itsallshitandmoreshit · 28/06/2013 10:54

I'm also wondering about how the need for the feedback was presented. Was it presented as compulsory, important, crucial or optional?

There's loads of reasons why busy parents wouldn't stay to give feedback.

As someone who has had to give feedback I know how boring and time-consuming these tasks can be.

As someone who relies on people to give feedback as part of my job I know how hard it is to get people to give it (unless its really negative!).

I don't think less of these people based on your OP. I need more info.

AndHarry · 28/06/2013 11:05

It was definitely part of the deal that feedback would be left, as in 'all we're asking in return is that you leave comments on the feedback thread and it would be great if you could take photos' (or something like that but that's how clear it was). It happened nearly 2 months ago and the feedback thread is now closed. I got an email linking to it so I suppose everyone else did too.

Dont mothercare delete bad reviews?

Maybe this is what happened.

AndHarry · 28/06/2013 11:14

Feedback was on MN so I doubt it.

oh well, then not great.

However, maybe they didn't have a good time? People are often reluctant to leave bad feedback.

Or maybe they opened the email, read it, thought oh yes, I must do that when I've got a minute... and then forgot all about it but of course, since the email now shows as read, there's no reminder Grin

I'm sure mothercare knew they wouldn't get 100% feedback, no company expects that. It's well known that feedback tends to be low. They got nearly 2/3, so I am sure that's going to be able to give them something to work from.

SolidGoldBrass · 28/06/2013 11:17

Oh do get over yourself. You've got 19 people's worth of free publicity already.

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 28/06/2013 11:18

I think its rude. They had time to go for the day but not to write a little bit of feedback?

ShatnersBassoon · 28/06/2013 11:20

I imagine MN know roughly what percentage of people leave feedback for these sorts of things, so ask more than enough people to take part. It is a bit rude, but not worth dwelling on or getting worked up over. Let MN chase them up if they're bothered.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 28/06/2013 11:25

do you work for mothercare?

Or the moral police?

AndHarry · 28/06/2013 11:28
Hmm

It was just a thought. It has nothing to do with me, I'm just wasting time as usual.

Raise it with MNHQ if you have an issue.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 28/06/2013 11:30

Good.

Mothercare closed my (and many, many others) profit making store so they could no doubt scrape the money for this super dooper flagship store. They used the excuse that the landlord was increasing the rent - head office had no idea that one of us actually knew the landlord and he'd actually offered a reduction in return for us staying open. Two weeks before the store closed I received a letter from head office congratulating me on 10 years continuous service and that they hoped for many more. Hmm

Not that I'm bitter or anything... Grin
