to love that The Big Bang Theory is really The Amy Show?

She is not only the Science Consultant but also a proper comic book geek, and she is the only one who (according to Jim "Sheldon" Parsons) really knows what they are talking about when the script goes nerdy! FYI, this came from an interview in this months SFX magazine.

The show is seen as boys being boys, as they are nerds interested in science and comic books, but none of the actors are. She really is and I love that because it shows that girls can be clever and geeky too, and that its a good thing.

I just wish that they would make more out of Amy so she could be a real role model for girls who are into that stuff and pretend they aren't because it isnt "cool".

The one where she gives Penny that mahoosive awful picture of them both is brilliant.

But TBBT is a sexist programme that buys into the idea that clever women are ugly and attractive women are (basically) stupid

I disagree. Bernadette is clever and very pretty. So is Raj's lawyer sister. So are some of the guest scientists.

AFF hates comic books on the show anyway yes I do like her she hasn't been on an awful lot this series, My favourtie is bernadette she is brilliant and makes me laugh DD would rather be Bernadette than Amy

I've always loved Amy, but I'm sad what has happened to her with this series - it's increasingly clear that she's not getting what she needs out of her relationship with Sheldon. It was great at the start when they were both getting what they needed - every pot has its lid. At the next stage, she wanted more but was able to negotiate with him and tell him when he wasn't being fair (eg. when he came to her lab for a holiday). Now it seems to me that she's in a sad situation where he just can't give her what she wants and she seems stuck with the crumbs of attention he can provide.

Leonard and Penny are boring together. I do quite like Howard and Bernadette because of that menacing edge of her turning into his mother (although it's a fairly one-note joke at this stage).

I am happy to see Raj meet this new girl - interested to see how it all turns out, and at least it's a fresh new element. Otherwise it's starting to come across a bit tired.

nickname yes I hated that Amy found her libido she was cast as a match to Sheldon and sheldon thinks Couitos (sp) is a waste of time and energy.

Actually Penny bugs me sometimes, why do they have her running around in teeny tiny PJs with her boobs hanging out

I barely put the telly on all day but we watch TBBT every tea- time and in our house it's very much The Sheldon Show - although Amy is brilliant.

The only thing that bugs me a bit is I find it hard to buy into Leonard's character as someone who routinely attracts beautiful women?!

We may have to start watching on +1 soon as DD (just turned 2) parroted "dumbass" back to an episode the other day and spent the next half hour shouting "dumbass hahaha so funny!" .. Oops!

I think Sheldon's charcter has got too 'wacky'. I preferred it when he was just a bit buttoned up and peculiar.

Lesley Winkel (Sara Gilbert) is attractive and clever, she appears every so often.
Sara Gilbert has a degree in fine art.

Not enough Leslie winkle IMO I love how she is Sheldons nemisis (sp) I suppose she has nobody left to booty call with

I like Penny too, lots of emotional intelligence.

It took me ages to click that Leslie Winkle and Leonard were Darlene and David (?) in Roseanne. And that Sheldon's Mum (love her!) was Roseanne's sister, Jackie I think.

Leslie and Leonard used to be a couple in Roseanne so have always gelled well on screen. ( showing my age).

We all love the BBT. There are racial stereotypes re Rag and Howard Jewish mother but also the red neck sheldons mother and penny. So what it's funny and done in a warm way I think.

Can look too hard into things I think. It's just a funny show and I love Amy, she's brilliant but then so are all of them.

OH i also saw Sheldons hot sister in an episode the other night I think she has only been in it once or twice

I'm pretty slow! One day it just dawned on me that half the cast of Roseanne was on the BBT

Love all the mother/son relationships on that show. Howard's invisible Mum, Leonard's cold fish Mum, Sheldon's conservative Christian Mum.

They all make me chuckle.

Sheldons mum/Jackie and Leonard/David were also in a sitcom called The Norm Show, where they dated. (She was a cougar).

Oops. Meant to add that Norm Macdonald, the star of the show had been a writer on Roseanne, which was the connection. I think the producer of BBT was the producer of Roseanne. And also Two and a Half Men, which was why Charlie Sheen did a tiny cameo on BBT.
