I don't use tampons as a regular thing but if I want to go swimming I use one. It just about copes for the hour I'm in the pool.

I’m way into the menopause but I never stopped swimming when I had my period. How do you think that female swimmers cope?

NearlyGranny · 20/12/2019 15:23

No worries now, but always swam on during periods with a tampon. Unless you're in shark territory there's no taboo.

Appletreehouse · 20/12/2019 15:49

Same as other pp, always used a tampon and swum with no problems. I use Lil let's highest flow ones though and change it just before and after swimming.

Purpleartichoke · 20/12/2019 15:53

Of course you can swim with your period. A moon up or a tampon are perfect for that situation.

I swim a lot as part of a club. A period has never stopped me.
I just use a tampon. I've never had a particularly heavy flow though so it's never been an issue.

I do put a fresh tampon in just before i enter the pool and remove and replace it as soon as I'm out though

TheMustressMhor · 20/12/2019 16:19

I am amazed at the number of women saying they would not swim whilst having a period.

Blacksackunderthetreesfreeze · 20/12/2019 16:21

What a strange zombie to resurrect!

But yes I always swim on my period. With a tampon.

Honeybee85 · 20/12/2019 16:23

Maybe it’s just my anatomy but whenever I went swimming during my period and used a tampon, it soaked up water and thus became useless seconds after entering the water.
So I don’t dare to go for a swim during my period

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 20/12/2019 16:27

I've been swimming during my periods for over 30 years.

Always used tampons so not entirely sure about mooncups but I imagine they'd be fine too.
