Parent helper on nursery trip.

On bus. 20 3+4 year olds plus a load of teachers and parent helpers.

Teacher and parent near me are not wearing seatbelts. Kids are asking them to belt up and they are winking at each othervsaying 'oh ours are broken, what a pity'.

They aren't obviously.

AIBU. I think it is irresponsible not to wear one. Bad example and in the event of a crash they will be propelled forward into anyone in front and will be little use to the children.

Feeling easily annoyed today but I just think it is not on at all.

Not just their funeral - in the event of a crash their bodies being flung about would have killed dc.

Next time play along and "fix it".

I would conplain to the head teacher - the teacher should be reprimanded and the parent not allowed on future trips.

It would seem to suggest that those people don't "belt up" when they're in a car with children either.

I just don't understand the mentality. Using a seatbelt is second nature surely.

phantomnamechanger · 27/06/2013 18:50

ask to see their risk assessment.

On every trip I have ever been on all seatbelts have been checked and rechecked, and the adults all belted in too. Fancy telling littlies its OK not to wear a seatbelt if its broken. If this were genuinely the case, they ought to be making a big thing of it and moving to another seat. Oh and the bus company would be in big trouble too!

Yanbu for all the reasons they all said.

I'd be fuming about it.

They launch into someone's child, and then what? :(

Tee2072 · 27/06/2013 18:56

That's not bring judgy. That's being right.

Report it.

amazingmumof6 · 27/06/2013 19:37

YANBU

that was wrong of them on so many levels.

breaking the law and lying to very impressionable children who are in their care - unacceptable!
I would talk to headteacher or whoever is in charge of them.

well done those kids though!

ConfusedPixie · 27/06/2013 19:43

YADNBU. People die in accidents from other people not wearing their belts and slamming into them. Mindless twats. Please do report it! The teacher needs to realise that it is very dangerous and stupid!

& I hope that your DD is recovering still thebody, I followed the news on the accident and your thread at the time.
